Tanks, Heavy Artillery, Weaponization

Watching Hannity's show tonight and other news sources I've heard the following terms:

Tanks

Heavy Artillery

Assault Weapon

If you listen to this you'd get the impression that M1A1s along with MLRS' are rolling down the streets of Ferguson and other US cities.

I've also heard "conservatives" cry about the "assault weapons" being used by the police. My goodness....don't we fight against the use of this term to describe ARs??

TOPICS: Your Opinion/Questions

There is a good chance the cops are carrying full auto weapons.

Weapons are only tools. They are good or bad depending on the use you make of them. So, it’s the fascist mind set some but not all of the police are developing that’s concerning.

I’m sure SWAT officers have select-fire stuff at their disposal, but at least locally here in CT, beat cops MIGHT have a semi-auto AR in the trunk, depending on the agency. I have never see a CT cop with the front mount gun rack between the seats.

Assault Weapon is the correct terminology IF the weapon is select fire (1-3-Auto) or if it fully automatic. It is NOT the correct term if the weapon only looks like one that has those characteristics but in fact does not have them. Bloomburg et al want the latter banned. The former are already highly regulated.

Except for violent situations such as Ferguson, police I know, or know of, pursue their daily patrol duties armed with a pistol on their hip and a shotgun in the trunk. Hardly a military force.

An MRAP is enormous and extremely expensive to maintain —costly even if free. It was designed to withstand multiple external explosions, faaar beyond being merely “bullet-proof”.

Equipment is driving patrolling decisions —it’s rule by ninjya-kook geardos working through something they endured in middle-school and high-school.

I never thought the Ferguson boy was the angel he was cracked up to be, but the trend is still there —turning cops into soldiers.

Today the victim was a scuzz-bucket, but tomorrow it’s back to grannies and loyal dogs.

The issue is the more militarized our police forces become the more our liberties and freedom are at risk. You have to wonder why are they taking on the look of an occupational force similar to Russia or China or other Communist/Marxist country. It might not be an issue today but it could be with the next generation. Our way of life is in jeopardy.

I think what people are upset about is the use of so many SWAT forces even in communities of only a few thousand.

No knock warrants, flash bangs, military style assaults on private residences. This happens daily in this country. Lots of innocent people are being terrorized in their own homes, often because of mistaken ID or some small infraction.

The problem with having a SWAT team is that authorities find reasons to use it.

We do not need an army quartered in our own cities, even if they are the police. I think that was one of the major grievances against the King as stated in the Declaration of Independence.

‘He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.’

‘For quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:’

‘For protecting them, by a mock Trial from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:’

Yeah, Kinda sounds familiar!

“You don’t need a MACHINE-GUN to shoot a deer…!”

We have heard that directed at innocent, legit rifle owners for DECADES.

The puzzling thing is that though liberals pride themselves for advocacy of freedom and questioning authority the person making this stupid “…shoot a deer” observation is a liberal.

Yet only after a black criminal is shot do we finally hear the left noticing the huge and bristling Occupation Army that the gummint worshipers have created.

WHAT DO THEY NEED THAT STUFF FOR???

We’ve been asking it for a very long time.

DH told me tonight little town near us was given an armored Bradley tank, parked behind their jail. Police told him they didn’t have the money to crank it up. He said Gainesville FL has two of them. I don’t remember how many billion bullets he told me DHS has bought.
I never bought into the shadow military but DH seems to have supplied the whole US with machinery to pull a big one off. PS I have never thought I was a conspiracy theorist but oh well.

The militarization of the police is a serious topic and though only a legal principle “Posse Comitatus” is still in effect though weakened.
