Unfortunately, some police departments need serious hardware these days. Now, small town police departments don't need MRAPS and so forth, but in a place like Ferguson, thick with violent gang types and other assorted trash, the its a different story. Its a sign of the times. Would the police be able to keep the riots at bay if they didn't have some intimidating deterrent force?

There were riots all over the country when MLK was killed. The cops didn’t need tanks. Let the idiots burn their own cities down. Plus, you actually believe the Ferguson cops need MRAPs to fend off those protesters? Bring out the fire hoses.

Unfortunately, some police departments need serious hardware these days. 1. Is the average law-abiding citizen allowed to be armed with the same weapons?
2. If the answer is 'no', then who will enforce those laws against the law-abiding, and what 'hardware' will they use to enforce them?
