SEATTLE (AP) Police in Washington state are asking the public to stop tweeting during shootings and manhunts to avoid accidentally telling the bad guys what officers are doing.
...
"All members of the public may not understand the implications of tweeting out a picture of SWAT team activity," said Nancy Korb, who oversees the Alexandria, Virginia, organization's Center for Social Media.
"It's a real safety issue, not only for officers but anyone in the vicinity," Korb said.
Korb said she is not aware of any social media post that has led to the injury of a police officer, but she said there have been a few close calls. Other times, tweets have interfered with investigations.
In those cases, police tweet back and ask people to back off.

Screw them.

How about counter-intel tweets?
Tweet out wrong info, just for the bad guys. Like: There’s no one over at the jail. That’s a good place to go hide.
Don’t call the swat team out to kill a fly then
“Theres no one over at the jail. Thats a good place to go hide.”
One day I was driving through the rough section of town and there was one of those haul behind a truck signs with flashing lights. I drove by, then pulled back around and parked in front of the sign to verify that I’d read it correctly. It read something like, “Holiday special, next two days only. If you have outstanding warrants you can turn yourself in for free; next two days only. (Address.)”
I asked a cop at the gym and he nearly busted a gut laughing. They had, as I recall, about 30 people take advantage of the sale.
Where's the sport in that?
SWAT: What we don’t need in Police Departments.
“Don’t be tellin’ what we be doin’?”
The Current FReepathon Pays For The Current Quarter's Expenses?
If citizens could formed armed militias like the 2A gives the RIGHT too, SWAT teams would not be necessary...
Citizens to police : GFY
When they stop shooting dogs, kicking in the wrong doors and start deporting illegals, we’ll talk.
In other words criminalizing the documentation of police activities.
What if I WANT to give the criminals an advantage? Cops are hurting enough innocent people that jump for joy when any SWAT team guy gets it.
This will not stop at a suggestion.
Eventually, ordinary citizens will be charged with aiding and abetting criminals in an effort to chill this type of communication.
Wait and see. Some little 13 year old middle-schooler will be arrested and charged after snapping and tweeting a photo of SWAT officers amassing behind a building moments before raiding the home of a drug trafficker.
We can add when they stop shooting unarmed black guys to that list.
It's unfortunate that the so-called SWAT or Militarization of our police
may eventually have to be stopped by armed force from good citizens.
Is anybody paying attention to how the Police are dressing to kill?
All respect for the public is being lost, and any respect for the Police.
“You mean Moments before entering the wrong house...”
Exactly.
That's a scary thought. After all, good citizens are outmatched by the weaponry on display by SWAT. Unless there are hundreds if not thousands of good citizens acting together against SWAT. As I said, a scary thought, which may come someday. I hope they can be demilitarized by legal action.
