More bad news on Obamacare enrollments: Large drop offs in payments
American Thinker ^ | 08/13/2014

President Obama's celebration of 8 million Obamacare enrollees was premature, according to this article in Investors Business Daily.

Major insurers are reporting large drop offs in Obamacare paying customers, that could mean the number of Americans insured by Obamacare dropping below 6 million by year's end.

ObamaCare exchange statistics should clear up any doubt as to why the Obama Administration has been tight-lipped about enrollment since celebrating 8 million sign-ups in mid-April.

Reality, evidence suggests, could require quite a come-down from those lofty claims.

The nation's third-largest health insurer had 720,000 people sign up for exchange coverage as of May 20, a spokesman confirmed to IBD. At the end of June, it had fewer than 600,000 paying customers. Aetna expects that to fall to "just over 500,000" by the end of the year.

That would leave Aetna's paid enrollment down as much as 30% from that May sign-up tally.

"I think we will see some attrition ... We're already seeing it. And we expect that to continue through the end of the year," CEO Mark Bertolini said in a July 29 conference call.

It's not clear how representative Aetna's experience is of broader exchange trends, or whether its projection may be too conservative.

so, they work hard to get people to sign up for Obamacare, but, now we find many people aren’t paying their insurance premiums? What the heck? Did many people think Obamacare was free insurance, as opposed to getting access to insurance which you would have to pay for?

Do lots of low information types think insurance is free, and that all they had to do was sign up, but never have to pay anything? What the heck?

Why is it a surprise to anyone?
Of course people will bail when the hefty bill for the so-called affordable health care lands in the mailbox.

Reality, evidence suggests, could require quite a come-down from those lofty claims. < P> What 'lofty claims'? They told us before this crap was started that there were 40 million Americans without health insurance! That paltry 8 million most likely includes millions of people who already had insurance or had Medicaid. pffft!..............

Has anyone computed the total tax money expenditure for this obamanation called nobamacare (subsidies, development costs, website development, consumer education, government employees time and so forth)? This has to be one of the largest frauds ever. What shameless criminals.

Paying a thousand a month for a plan with $5,000 deductible will only go so far for people. Eventually they’ll drop it when they figure out that most treatments will never come close to the deductible. And since it’s out of pocket, you’re not going to “work” to get to the point where it’s free.

It is catastrophic in its effect on the health care of americans. I’ve been without any health insurance since January of this year. I never get a tax refund so I don’t expect to ever pay a penalty - until they change the law.

They, the democrats, INTENTIONALLY led people to believe that Obamacare meant free healthcare on demand for everyone.

Does zerocare actually require that you buy, or KEEP insurance? Did they read that far in?

Yes, by and large, people who only get their news from The Daily Show, TMZ or Entertainment Tonight, really believed that it was going to be FREE...............

I remember when it was first passed, the DAY AFTER IT PASSED, people showed up at doctors offices all across the country thinking it would cost them nothing at all.......................

You can drag the horse kicking and screaming to the water, but you can’t make him open his wallet and pay the bill.

Be afraid of “practical instructions” from the IRS. Be very afraid.

And remember: you are responsible if there are mistakes made on your return. No matter how convoluted or wacky the form is, the IRS will cut you zero slack

*************************************

How to make EXTRA EXTRA sure that Obamacare is popular & a hit with the public ...... tangle it up with a politically weaponized IRS and all their paperwork, rules, regs & all the fear and trepidation that goes with along with anything even remotely related to the IRS.

That should be down to 50% making payments by January…Christmas shopping, you know. If any doctors and hospitals are accepting ObamaCare patients by next year, they deserve to go broke.

But don’t expect to read this in the NYT or Washington Post. They are still chirping about the “success” of ObamaCare in spite of the mean old conservatives who said it was unworkable. And just as they were monumentally wrong about Pres. Reagan’s missile defense idea, but have never admitted it, they won’t admit that ObamaCare is a catastrophe when the last hospital closes it’s doors.

It gets worse when they actually try to use it and find out that there is a $5K deductible and that a lot of doctors won’t accept it.
