Sorry but I know a few Africans and have been to Africa and blacks here are not African , nor does the Africans I know think that.
Lets not forget that whites to are African and can be African American, even more that blacks here
Their ‘roots’ are African...how any can any say otherwise is astounding?... Since when did we eliminate generational roots of a people because someone doesn’t “think” they have those? Try telling me I’m not Irish Scottish because I don’t speak their languages nor lived there,... a visit with my Irish temper could be quite revealing! HA!... that’s my family history and I will continue being glad I know where my family “roots” are.
