World’s top Muslim leaders sort of condemn attacks on Iraqi Christians
Jihadwatch.org ^ | August 12, 2014 | Robert Spencer

Iyad Ameen Madani, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, “officially denounced the ‘forced deportation under the threat of execution’ of Christians, calling it a ‘crime that cannot be tolerated.’ The Secretary General also distanced Islam from the actions of the militant group known as ISIS, saying they ‘have nothing to do with Islam and its principles that call for justice, kindness, fairness, freedom of faith and coexistence.’”

Could this be more tayqqia or REAL fear here?

Others have pointed out that Christians have been treated fairly good in Syria (of all places). I believe it to be true.

Folks, I think we lump all of Islam more than we should. I’m quite guilty of it.

There are some very bad eggs, making everyone look bad.

Certain sects are worse than others. The problem for me is, how can you tell a baddy from a good one? And the stakes are pretty high aren’t they.

Oops, my mistake, oh there goes my head...

“... denounced the ‘forced deportation under the threat of execution’...”

Forced deportation is OK as long as you don’t publicly announce the “threat of execution”. Of course maiming, slavery, rape, etc. are OK. But please note that once ISIS takes over or all the minorities are killed or driven off the remarks will change to fit the new situation.

Saddam also was comparatively protective of Christians.

Those who had the bad luck to fall afoul of him were no doubt in serious trouble, but he had no particular animus against them as a group.

One problem is that the milder sects of Islam still see the world as an us vs. them proposition. A lot of them get vicarious pleasure in the actions of ISIS in killing the bad guys. A little very rational fear of their co religionists should greatly help.

That has more to do with the secular principles of Baathism than the head chopping of mohammedanism.

The “milder” sects may not blow themselves up, but I’ll bet their mosques donate to those who do. I would never trust any of them.

It isn’t about “comparatively protection of Christians” by Moslem Nations......it’s about Islam domination and their agenda to do just that worldwide.

I think you’re right. I also find it rather strange knowing what type of person he was, he and his sons.

Syria was a shock to me too when I first heard of it and thought about it.

It actually makes perfect sense. For Saddam the Shia, and for Assad the Sunnis, were the group that were an actual risk to him.

So they had every incentive to go easy on groups other than their main threats fir whatever support they could get from them against their main threats.

Unfortunately, this means that when the dictator is overthrown the minority groups he “favored” are seen by the majority as collaborators, whether they in fact were or not.

I understand your logic trail. If Christians didn’t come out in favor of Assad for instance though, it wouldn’t seem the next crew would go after them based on their support of him.

I would still lean toward it being radical Islamic thugs and the elimination of anything not Islamic in their nation.

Oh, I agree. I don’t think (most) Christians did anything to earn the enmity of their Muslim countrymen.

So the “forced deportation” is the problem here, not the executions?

I didn’t mean to infer that was your premise. Sorry if I did seem to. I do think there was some merit to you premise.
