Oce police had Nathan Hunter in handcuffs, they tended to his wife.
She was covered in blood. She told the officers Hunter flew into a rage that night in February 2013 because she hadn't bought him a Valentine's Day gift. He beat and choked her before stabbing her in the face with a screwdriver and throwing her down a flight of stairs at their apartment in South L.A., according to police and court records.
Hunter, 55, was convicted of felony spousal abuse and sentenced to six years in prison.

Yep, that has to figure in somehow. I’m not sure they got paid, but someone was putting the pressure on to downgrade.
I don’t trust these lowered crime stats at all.
We’re being lied to.
This is SOP in Chicago.
I’m sure it is. I’m also sure it’s SOP in a lot of other places.
It could be political pressure. Lie to the public about how much safer everything is. Liked the b.s. unemployment numbers.
But in Atlanta there were HUGE bonus payments to teachers and administrators who cheated on tests for kids (changing answers). Millions were paid out. Where are the indictments?
In the VA system, millions of tax dollars were paid out in incentive bonus payments. That’s a RICO conspiracy fraud costing all of us money. Where are the indictments?
The fact that she hadn’t bought him a Valentine’s Day gift was a crime of omission as well.
I want a cute mute next year.
Your post is right on target IMO. You’re asking the right questions and I agree with your take on what should be taking place as a result. This is low (and sometimes not so low) grade anarchy.
“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics.”
Mark Twain
I read an awful article, it was just awful, about the Chi-town police and their “damn lies and statistics” about murders.
One poor woman’s body was found tied to a chair in an abandoned warehouse, I forget the cause of death but Chicago PD has it classified as a suicide.
It was really disgusting. They are not looking for the murderers and they are not giving the victims the dignity they deserve.
It’s like every level of government is staffed by nothing but liars these days.
We are paying these people to do certain jobs, they don’t do them and they lie about it.
Don’t try this at an actual job, folks.
Yes, improved target statistics for the coming year are handed down from on high to various areas. Article says so.
Of course the crime stats have to come from somewhere. And that somewhere is cities that don't want people to know exactly how bad crime is in their cities.
So now we have greater access to less accurate information.
Of course newspapers are going the way of the dinosaur, and we conservatives love this because we hate all those durned liberals that lie about Republicans and conservatives.
So now there is no one to doublecheck the stats provided by the cities.
Well then private newsletters, such as those provided to investors could fill in the gap. But of course those investor newsletters wouldn't want us to know how bad crime is in certain parts of town or it could be bad for business.
So it turns out the Internet is just another way for us to be lied to.

Trials started July 7. They indicted the heck out of everybody in sight, 35 individuals IIRC, from teachers (who then 'turned' and testified against their superiors) to principals to the school superintendent, who is escaping trial only because she is in Stage 4 breast cancer, bedridden, and not expected to survive more than a few months (I know, I know, that Libyan dude who was repatriated. But she looks pretty darned sick and her oncologists and GPs have testified that she's terminal - even if decent physicians would lie in the first place, why would they perjure themselves for somebody who can do nothing for them? (as an old pol said when asked why nobody came to Mayor Frank Hague's funeral, "When the old man goes, he can't do nothin' for nobody.")
Thanks for the update. Been media blackout outside Atlanta.
I’m still waiting for the VA indictments...
Of course they did. It’s the only way that LA and other cities, towns, counties, states, can show that their crime stats are down.
Police reports are nothing but standardized forms where certain information goes in certain boxes. Usually, there is one box that asks .Crime Committed. If the person was hit with a bottle..you would write Victim Hit with Bottle/Weapon. At that time, the crime would be classified as an Aggravated Assault. Where I used to work, we had to leave that box blank. It was filled in later, by someone else.
If anyone wants to know why homicide rates are so low, go to the hospitals and talk to the ER staff. They’re the ones keeping the homicide rate down. With technology nowadays, people that were dead just a few years ago are being saved.
The PROBLEM is that many CONSERVATIVES are FOOLED into thinking that jail sentences are too long and the wind up supporting this early release garbage (they’re especially taken in my the claim that people in jail on drug charges are just ‘casual users’).
...and then they can’t understand why crime immediately SOARS.
But if you can divert the drug users into a substance abuse program with teeth - i.e. graduate this program and stay clean, or go to prison - you can save prison space for the violent offenders.
I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but an astonishing percentage of property crimes and a pretty good number of crimes against the person are based on somebody being hooked on drugs. If you can get them clean it's better for everyone - the courts, the prison system, the offenders, and their victims. The pilot programs here seem to be working.
