California Lawmakers Scramble To Help Patients Cut Off From Doctors By Obamacare

California lawmakers have put forward several bills designed to solve a problem created by the Affordable Care Act. The problem is small provider networks that make it difficult for some people to find a doctor.

The problem stems from the design of Obamacare, which requires insurers to offer a standard package of coverage and to offer insurance to everyone regardless of their health. Unable to adjust costs by limiting coverage or by limiting access, insurers were left with one way to compete on price: limiting provider networks.

In the case of some major California insurers, the networks were initially too small for the number of people in them. Some Californians began to complain that, though they had insurance, they were unable to find a doctor who would see them.

As has been said, they traded away health care for health insurance.

How long before the USA builds a Berlin Wall to keep doctors and other producers IN?

A bandage on a bandage on another bandage on a pestiferous soar that will not heal. Sorry for the incomplete sentence and I stand corrected—the bandage remains.

As mentioned in related threads, it's too bad that misguided California lawmakers evidently don't understand that they uniquely have the constitutional authority, via the 10th Amendment, to regulate, tax and spend for their state's intrastate public healthcare services, not the federal government. In other words, based on Justice John Marshall's clarification of Congress's limited power to lay taxes, the feds shouldn't be appropriating tax dollars for intrastate public healthcare purposes.

If you liked your doctor sorry you can’t keep him but if now you don’t like your president sorry you have to keep him.
Have a nice day and remember to vote DemoRat as your masters command.

The only problem with your analysis is you assume that state politicians actually want to run state government. They don't.

By and large states are not allowed to run deficits. If state politicians ran state governments then they would have only a limited amount of money to spend.

By allowing the feds to run their states for them, they have access to a never ending supply of money because the Feds can deficit spend.

States gave up on running themselves back in the 1800's. They didn't want to spend any money maintaining lots of vacant land. All they cared about was the places where money could be made and taxes levied. They sold their birthrights at their birth, maybe even while they were still territories.

The only people who care to enforce the Tenth Amendment are some of "the people", and we "the people" have been declared by the Supreme Court to have no standing.

I don't think that the Founding Fathers ever envisioned a time where because of Federal deficit spending it was more advantageous for corrupt state politicians to get into bed with corrupt federal politicians. I believe they thought that state corruption and federal corruption would tend to balance each other out.

Oh well. It was a nice republic while we had it.

I’m extremely surprised not to see a bill that would FORCE doctors to join one or more exchange plans and/or accept patients of any plan and accept whatever remuneration the plan chooses to make.

The headline says “cut off from doctors by obamacare”. It should be “cut off from doctors WITH obamacare”.

Yep - we hear about the "advanced socialized medicine" countries where they wait 6-9 months for something we can get in for within 3-10 days. This is how it starts.

They think their access has been short sighted, wait until they are total Government health control.

We are both Medicare and as a Retired Military over 65 our Secondary is Tricare Life. 0’Care robbed Medicare to pay for it, DOD Issued MANDATES on 4/14/14 that restricts where we can buy our daily meds. Medicare limits test, and procedures. Test that should be run yearly are now every 2 yrs, nerve blocks for bad backs have been reduced to 3 per year. Live with the pain.

Osteoporosis is one of the fastest growing aging issues. Much could be done to prevent it or reverse it if caught sooner. First Bone Density test should be done the same time as first Mammogram. If normal, every 2 yrs until 50, then yearly. Once diagnosed it should be a yearly test just like a Mammo is. The inclusion of a 1000 UI D3, 1000 mg NON rock form Calcium, half that value in Magnesium Cheleated, NOT Oxide bound, and Collagen 1000 mcg with 100 mcg K2 Complex are a must for any man or woman over 40 to stave off OP. Once you hit 60 these doses need to be upped. Check with your health care provider.

And don’t let them con you that the OP drugs are the best route, there are a ton of side effects that go with the drugs, some of them KILL very slowly and painfully...kidney failure, A Fib, Jaw Degeneration, bone pain, skin infections, UT/Bladder issues. Read up on the drugs before you decide to take on. Better to prevent it. Your bones are made up of vitamins and minerals, not a drug.

This law is like an infected bandage on your foot that instead if removing, you just keep adding more bandage and think you are fixing the problem.
