American military forces bombed at least two targets in northern Iraq on Thursday night to rout Islamist insurgents who have trapped tens of thousands of religious minorities in Kurdish areas, Kurdish officials said.
Word of the bombings, reported on Kurdish television from the city of Erbil, came as President Obama was preparing to make a statement in Washington.

I know the Kurds and this minority group asked Iraq for help, and the Iraqis came and dropped off water, but they had no more military support to give.
So I’d say it’s Iraqis, but somebody must have made Bambi cut loose with the equipment and materiel.
I wrote over on HA that my bet is on Putin or Assad. There were Suhkois sent to Iraq by Putin and Assad’s pilots have some recent experience in ground attack against ISIS.
I would like to see us get fifty thousand of these slime on one place, and splatter their guts over every fencepost for a mile around. More rubble, less trouble. Let’s have an Islamist bloodbath like none since the days of Genghis Khan.

Obama wanted to be able to announce it himself, all the while patting himself on the back. I think the main reason he wanted to make the announcement is that he wants to control the message. Bombing Iraq has a bit of history and baggage attached to it, and he wants to frame it as a humanitarian event. Looks like the NY Times didn't get the embargo memo. I kind of prefer the way Drudge reveals it: Obama Bombs Iraq?
They are denying that they did this. Maybe someone else did it...or maybe not. Who knows anymore? Truth is gone.

I don’t believe it. Why would Obama want to bomb those he trained and armed. In other words, where it benefit Obama?
