Walsh will serve out the rest of his Senate term, which ends in early January 2015.

Anything to cling to power as long as possible and deny a replacement a jump on seniority . . . whom they obviously don't expect to be another RAT.

That’s how HE was appointed. Baucus retired early to give the Dems a leg-up by having the Gov appoint his Dem replacement. Didn’t work out as planned.

That's what the paper says, but Walsh may not have thought out whether he's going to hang on to the very last day yet.
