Russian strategic nuclear bombers conducted at least 16 incursions into northwestern U.S. air defense identification zones over the past 10 days, an unusually sharp increase in aerial penetrations, according to U.S. defense officials.

There has been some Twitter buzz about this, but nothing "confirmed", until now.
Are they afraid it could make Obama look bad (and cost them their jobs), yet again?
Until they start strafing the golf course, no action will be taken...
I thought I heard a couple of F/A-18’s take off a couple days ago.. Under Obama, I’m shocked we even respond to border incursions anymore. Uhhh, given that Obama doesn’t believe in borders.
Obama “kept the lights on” and the borders open.
The EXEMPT remain unconcerned.
Meanwhile, Ebola, MS13, the Iranians, ISIS,
and even the Russians take foothold from sea to shining sea.
And what has our do-nothing president done about it?
They woulnd’t try it if Cruz was in the White House.
Borders are racist.
“Until they start strafing the golf course, no action will be taken...”
Best FR comment of the day! Thanks for the chuckle...
An ADIZ extends well beyond what the general public would consider “US Airspace”
Time for a rebel BUK missile to take out a Russian bomber.
The 1980’s keep calling, asking if he wants their foreign policy back.
Romney was totally correct, but the TV told the sheeple to laugh at him, and praise Obama’s weakness. And they did....
Best chuckler so far today.........
I don’t know what models of planes are presently based here, but the ANG has been doing a lot of take-offs with full afterburner lately. I have an idea this will continue until we get complacent, whereupon those “Bears” will be orbiting over Seattle and Portland. I can hardly wait! /s
Considering that the CONUS air defense posture is based on 9-11, it would be pretty funny if we shot one of these bombers down, claiming we mistook it for a rogue airliner ...
“Russian bombers penetrated U.S. airspace at least 16 times in past 10 Days”
As the article said: “Russian strategic nuclear bombers conducted at least 16 incursions into northwestern U.S. air defense identification zones”
The ADIZ is not US airspace.
It is airspace that requires we identify who’s there.
All part of the destructive ‘change’ he promised, and swallowed whole by his supporters.
Well the only thing to do is resurrect The Strategic Air Command and put the planes back on 24 Hour Alert.
The thing is do we even have the ability or the planes to do that?
Lord where is General Curtis Lemay when we need him??????????
I headline writers don’t have to read the first line of the article, why should freepers?
He was replaced with General Butch “Susie” Smith. He is busy integrating our AF do be more friendly.
Obama imitating Reagan “We will be bombing Russia in 5 min”.
Obama: “But, Vlad, I was only joking.....”
Short history of how WWIII started.
A little off topic but VIDEO: Chinese patrol aircraft follows Japanese fighters over E. #China sea http://youtu.be/dlsj-yUPqNo Is this some kind of Commie Spring thing?
Now I know why I have been hearing a lot of F-15’s lately. PANG (Portland Air National Guard) is the air defence base for the PNW.
Quite right. But a working knowledge of things military is not evident in the media anymore either. Sensationalism is more important than substance.
Lemay would be fired by obummer within 20 minutes. Lemay was a no nonsense type of guy who spoke his mind with legendary bluntness. I’m pretty sure the one would be cut down to size within those 20 minutes.
China has been extremely aggressive in this regard for quite some time now.
That's why my contention all along has been that the missing Malaysian airliner was accidentally shot down by the Chicoms and they've covered it up........
The follow up question Romney should have asked was, "Do you know what they're used for??"
Back when the Commander in Chief was an American, this would not have happened.
“Back when the Commander in Chief was an American, this would not have happened.”
Best comment of the day.
Understand your point, but Russia is clearly sending a message (and its not a hashtag). They are well aware of America’s receding power under this president and know that Obama has no resolve. They may well be calculating that he is unlikely to respond to ANY provocation.
Can you imagine Obama adopting a strong stance or retaliating against any aggression? He is weakness personified.
“Can you imagine Obama adopting a strong stance or retaliating against any aggression?”
His base would go nuts, and it would expose the hypocrisy of everything the media has been telling us for 13 years.
However, his 1,000+ “Secret” jouno-listers could likely counter that image with a months long-media bombardment on the low-info’s.
I second that.
Hee, hee. Golf course? Took me a moment to get that.
No real man could be cut down to Obama's size, but I'm sure Lemay would be fired in well under the time you specified.
It’s just Pooty Poot playing with the Pentagon bean counters. “Every time I send a plane, those idiots whack another 1,000 from the military just to pay for the intercept.”
Sent pink slips to hundreds of Army Majors in Afghanistan,is depleting our nuclear deterrent, shrinking the Air Force and the Navy, what else do you want him to do?
About a lot of things but the ignorant just couldn't get over trashing him. Too bad, and here we are. Real fun isn't it.
Davis said the latest Bear H incursions began Monday around 4:30 p.m. Pacific time when radar detected the four turbo-prop powered bombers approaching the U.S. air defense zone near the far western Aleutian Islands.
Two U.S. Air Force F-22 jets were scrambled and intercepted the bombers over the Aleutians.
After tracking the bombers as they flew eastward, two of the four Bears turned around and headed west toward the Russian Far East. The bombers are believed to be based at the Russian strategic base near Anadyr, Russia.
The remaining two nuclear-capable bombers then flew southeast and around 9:30 P.M. entered the U.S. northern air defense zone off the coast of Northern California.
Two U.S. F-15 jets were deployed and intercepted the bombers as they eventually flew within 50 miles of the coast before turning around and heading west.
A couple of weeks later, we saw and heard a repeat of what happened the first time.
Reminds me of the old hide and seek games we used to play with the Ruskies during the so called cold war.
I was a military dependent at Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico in the early 60’s when General Lemay visited our school. He was a regular guy not the horned beast the media portrays.
If in the service today, he would be teaching like Mattis...
” In February 1965, after dealing with intense criticism, Johnson and McNamara forced LeMay into retirement.”
Eventually the Russians will figure out that now is a good time
to make a good first strike. Even better when they learn it
will take two days to clear the Obama of his own pant-load.
I think he said The One would be cut down.
. . . 16 incursions into northwestern U.S. air defense identification zones . . .
That would be, ADIZ, in fact
Don’t make me laugh.
I hope to h*ll we never elect another Senator to the Presidency. You need people with conviction and action, and preferably military experience.
Thanks Diana...you're usually good for a laugh.
America should flood DC with pink slips. In the mail, from motorcycles, cars even drop them from airplanes, it should be like a ticker tape parade of pink slips until the cowards get the message.
Unfortunately a country foolish enough to elect a president whose middle name is Hussein after the events of 9/11 wont likely awake from their stupor until we are being marched into the camps. Maybe not even then.
Where does "the one" play golf - Bolling AFB, Andrews AFB? (unfortunately, the only thing the AF is noted for are their golf courses and O clubs) and who does he play with?
