That many cops for that few people is just ridiculous, the military equipment on top of it is completely absurd.
We only had 5 both full and part time total cops in our township of 2000 people. We even liked our cops but still got rid of them simply because there was no point in having them.
Thats right. No point having them!
I don’t live “in town”, but we have 1020 population. No police.

Our town has a little over 2000 people and four (4) full-time police officers in addition to the Chief; two for the day shifts, two for the night shifts with some overlap. Our town has no crime for all practical purposes and the police are not looking for trouble where there is none. We have no armored personnel carriers, not light armor, no MRAPs, nothing every remotely similar. Our police department, whom I respect immensely, have resisted all attempts to federalize and militarize them.
