How exactly has “fearless conservative challenger” Milton Wolf substantively engaged the Obama admin? The answer is he hasn’t. His staunch “conservative principles” are a campaign creation that didn’t exist until he decided he wanted a Senate seat and and never gave a flip about “stopping Obama” before. Regards, I’m sure you’ll be still cheering for the next “true conservative” who comes out of nowhere and tells you what you want to hear. After all, they talk a good game and promise hope and change, just like Obama did in 2008.

>> And who are the two also-ran dingleberries splitting the anti-Roberts vote? Anybody know? <<

Milton Wolf's fan club has assured us that the ONLY thing that matters in this race is that a candidate is "NOT ROBERTS", so according to their own talking points it doesn't matter as long as they're on the ballot against him.

The race that’s caught my eye tonight is Tim Huelskamp’s in KS-1. The man has been in a dogfight this whole night and he’s still just up 53%-47% with 888 out of 1338 precincts in.

Wolf is a complete and total unknown, much like his cousin Zero. No record, no public contributions to the Conservative cause, no nothing. How has he actively engaged his own family member ? Not a single Wolf supporter could answer any of those questions beyond pointing to his campaign platitudes, none of which were backed up with a substantive record.

Putting blind faith into such an individual in the HOPE that he “might” vote better than Roberts (whose record is right out there) is the height of naivete.

We need to sack the REAL problem people in the Senate. The vitriol thrown at Roberts is what should be directed towards those aforementioned names, Cochran, Lamar!, Graham, Murkowski, McConnell, Collins, Kirk...

Reelecting another old dog beltway lifer who is mailing it in at the tail end of his career is not what this country needs right now. We need fighters not pigs at the trough. If Roberts isn’t part of the solution he is part of the problem. If you want a reliable vote for Team Mitch cloture vote shenanigans then Roberts is your man. For the rest of us, not so much.

Paula Hawkins was pretty good. It’s unfortunate she had to run for reelection in 1986 against Bob Graham.

>> As for Wolf, now here’s his opportunity to run for a lower office in 2016 and make an actual record of accomplishment for himself. <<

Doubt it will happen. Former phone book company executive turned political messiah Adam Andrejewski lost the GOP primary for Governor in 2010 and then spent months "exploring" running for another office in 2014 before holding a press conference announcing he won't run for anything. These egomaniacs who decide they should hold the highest office in the land the moment they enter politics can't bear the thought of having to run for a lower office first and prove their political skills like mere mortals do.

Anything below Emperor of the Universe is beneath them.

That’s been worrisome. Some disgruntled pro-farm subsidies crowd dumped a crapload of money into the race to shore up the liberal RINO carpetbagger, LaPolice (who only moved to the state last year !). I expect the same group will similarly dump money to help the Democrat in November (if Huelskamp is renominated).

Good point, but that still means its been over 30 years since FL GOP primary voters got it right during a primary election, and she was swept in as part of the Reagan revolution.

Also, did Hawkins have a primary opponent? All I know she replaced a RAT incumbent.

If he doesn’t run for something in ‘16, it will prove you right. Topeka might just be “beneath” Cousin Miltie.

You’re ignoring that fact that Roberts will veer hard left once safely reelected. He will swap his vote to those RINOs up for relection like Murkowski. We’ve seen this movie recently. Hatch also ran as a born again conservative to get reelected. Then went on to cast some awful votes. More of that? No thanks.

Unlikely. Roberts is one of only a handful of 6 or 7 GOP senators who stood WITH Ted Cruz during his filibuster. The REST of the senate Republicans caved.

Why you feel the need to eat our own instead of going after liberal DemonRats and RINOs is beyond me. Most freepers would gladly take Roberts over their own Senator and would walk over broken glass to vote for him IF they had the chance in their state, because the vast majority of Senators in office right now are worse than Roberts.

It's hard to identify with the pro-Wolf Kansas conservatives who cry about how terrible it is having a Senator who does the right thing "only" 90% of the time. They don't know how good they have it. Maybe if they had to live with Barbara Boxer or Dick Durbin to "represent" them, they'd stop taking it for granted.

“liberal RINO carpetbagger, LaPolice (who only moved to the state last year !)”

I betcha that many members of the Wolfpack cast their vote for LaPolice (talk about a crappy name for a politician!) because he wasn’t the incumbent, so he must be good. The fact that he’s a pro-pork RINO is besides the point, as not being the incumbent is really the most important thing. Of course, LaPolice having moved to KS only a year ago is inconvenient, given that the most damning thing that Wolf could accuse Pat Roberts of doing was not spending enough days a year in KS, but, hey, a RINO carpetbagger is better than a conservative incumbent, because, like, we need a change.

She beat former Congressman Lou Frey by 62-38% in a runoff. It helped that the Dems had an ugly fight that saw the incumbent Senator, Richard Stone, lose to his 1974 primary opponent in a rematch (Bill Gunter). Gunter outspent Hawkins by almost 4 to 1 in the general and still lost 52-48%.

Curiously, ex-Sen. Stone was later rewarded with Ambassadorships by both President Reagan and GHW Bush.

I'm glad you were able to check the future with your time machine so you could inform us of this "fact". Unfortunately we didn't know since Roberts had always been a reliable conservative the last three times he won another term in the Senate, but thanks to your time machine we know he'll alter his entire political career and suddenly turn traitor in the next term.

In related news, all those people betting against the Cubs winning the world series are ignoring the fact that they will veer towards a huge winning streak next season and make it the world series, once safely ranked in last place.

LaPolice...it sounds French to me...

I think Huelskamp’s got it. He’s maintaining his margin with now 1017 of 1338 precincts in. I doubt there’s a big trove of LaPolice votes out there.

Roberts was up for reelection. Is it really a surprise he attached his lips to Cruz’s posterior? Hatch did much the same a couple years ago. How has that worked out?

Yeah, I’ve actually looked at his record. He’s never been on the “far left” in his career. You want real liberal or hard left ? Look at his two RINO predecessors, Nancy Kassebaum and Jim Pearson, the latter of which (despite being a Republican) voted almost like Ted Kennedy. Roberts is the most Conservative Senator in that seat in over a half-century, and he’s more Conservative than the junior Senator, Jerry Moran (whom I trust will receive the full-on blitz from you guys in 2016, yes ?).

You’ve ignored everything I’ve said about Wolf. You don’t know anything about the man beyond campaign promises, which are worthless these days. You don’t know who he is, what he is or how he’d vote. It’s all naïve hope and blind faith. He could be another Pearson, a REAL Socialist, and you’d be stuck with that until January 2021. Fortunately, that won’t happen.
