Montana papers call for Walsh to end Senate campaign
The Hill ^ | August 4, 2014 | Cameron Joseph

Posted on 08/04/2014 3:42:04 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

"Having repeatedly said that he wants to do the honorable thing, Walsh should stop campaigning and do his utmost to serve Montanans well in the remainder of his brief Senate appointment. That is the honorable course," writes the Gazette's editorial board. "We call on Walsh to devote all his time to serving as U.S. senator and bag the campaigning." The Missoulian went a step farther, suggesting that he could also immediately resign.

"Walsh could resign his Senate seat immediately. [Gov. Steve] Bullock could then appoint a temporary replacement who isn’t running for election, as many Montanans had hoped he would do earlier this year, before he went with Walsh. That replacement could see that the legislation Walsh supported received continued support," writes the Missoulian's editorial board.

"But if Walsh doesn’t do that, at a minimum, he should drop out of the Senate race. He has until Aug. 11 to do so and get his name removed from the ballot, which would allow the Montana Democratic Party to name a replacement candidate by Aug. 20 — just in time to make sure that candidate’s name appears on the ballot," that paper continues.

The calls are the latest sign that Walsh is a dead man running in the wake of his plagiarism scandal. Walsh, who was appointed to the Senate earlier this year, was already facing an uphill battle, and it's almost impossible to see how he bounces back against Rep. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) following the blowback from the scandal.

Leave him on the ballot, he might have more skeletons in the closet.

“...Walsh supported received continued support,” writes the Missoulian’s editorial board.”

What does Missouri and Montana have in common? They both start with “M”>

Correct about the Torch comparison (you know it’s bad when a leftist rag like the Missoulian opposes a liberal Dem), and the legal dates for Walsh to withdraw from the race & the Rats to name a replacement mean nothing.

They can just find a liberal judge to override the law and put another Rat on the ballot at any time, in the interests of “giving the voters a choice”.

Nothing to do with Missouri. Missoula is a city, think of it as the “Portland” of Montana with all of its oh-so-enlightened dopers. It’s as Commie Red as place as you can find in Montana, outside of the Butte-Helena-Anaconda-Deer Lodge area and maybe not even that.

Yeah, John, don’t drop out! As you once wrote in your thesis, “now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the Party.”

While I don’t think that any MT Democrat would have much of a chance of beating Daines, John Walsh is a sure thing to lose the election (and to dampen Democrat turnout so as to ensure that we hold the House seat as well).

Missouri and Montana also share the “Muddy Mo” with headwaters in Montana and ending in Missouri where it joins the Mississippi River.

It seems to me that there was another Democrat Montana National Guard officer who got into trouble over War College shenanigans. Maybe there’s a systemic problem there in Montana.

Oh, so it’s like here in New York where we have Albany...and Buffalo...and New York City...

I was going to suggest that Albany, Buffalo and New York City are a lot larger. That is true for Buffalo and NYC, but I was surpriased to find Missoula has a pop of 69,000 compared to Albany’s 99,000, although Albany has a much larger metro area pop (about the same as the whole state of Montana which is now estimated at just over 1 million).

Montana will pass Rhode Island in pop in the next couple of years.

The nightmare would be if Schweitzer reconsiders, no one else worries me.

The Billings Gazette endorsed Biden for Vice President so have no call to have their panties in a twist. Leave Walsh alone!!!!!
