A leading veterans group is hailing two key provisions of the proposed Veterans Affairs reform bill as critical to improving care for our nation’s heroes but warns that spending needs to be controlled and oversight must be even more intense to make sure positive changes are really happening.

A spokesman for the group also tells WND the director of the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System – which made headlines when 40 veterans died while reportedly waiting for appointments – is still on the federal payroll with an annual salary of $170,000.

Over the weekend, Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., and House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Jeff Miller, R-Fla., announced they agreed on a framework for reforms to accelerate care for veterans and address the bureaucratic mess that led to veterans waiting months or even years to see a doctor.

It’s not just the VA.

It’s EVERY government agency! Corruption the mafia would be envious of.

The unions, through their friends in Congress, are blocking any solution to positive restructuring.

If that person still on payroll they have no intention of cleaning it up. Should have been the first to go along with those under them.

If they have to pay her, then make her show up for work and scrub floors.

I’m not sure who the author is talking about. Gen Eric Shinseki stepped down as the Chief of the VA. The author might be referring to female director in the Phoenix office.

My dad starts radiation therapy this week.
The VA in Northern Cal pretty much told him “we won’t bother with you, you’re old”.
He got a private doc who is going to take care of him right away, and says he has an extremely positive outlook on the situation (prostate).

I have a special amount of hatred for the VA and their poisonous “care”

The latest VA bill that just passed the House does next to nothing to address the real problems at the VA. I cannot understand why those VA officials who manipulated waiting lists to get bonuses weren't charged with fraud if not wrongful death for the veterans who died as a result. Nothing at the VA has changed and no one is being held responsible. The VA should be abolished and eligible veterans given cards to pay for their health care. With the billions being wasted on bureaucracy and the total duplication of health care facilities in many areas abolishing the VA would probably cost less and do more for veterans. In my community we have two large hospital health centers and numerous specialty hospitals and one rather rundown VA facility. Closing it would probably give veterans access to better care.

What really concerns me is that i read that military personnel are 10x more likely to be prescribed the very dangerous and addictive opiate and morphine based drugs that have destroyed and even ended the lives, of so many people.

It is possible they simply require more “painkillers” but it wouldn’t surprise me if it were intentional.

No bueno.

Despite the 11 kidney failure deaths that are known, Reclast is still on the market. All the OP drugs have FDA warnings for Kidney failure, A Fib, Jaw Degeneration, into the thousands. Yet all are still on the market. This is another of those how many have to DIE before it gets removed?

Just like our VA Care. Gov’t screws up everything it touches.

Reclast UPS kidney failure, A FIB risk.

Like most useful medications, Forteo may have its possible downside. In animals, it promotes the development of osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. In humans, osteosarcoma has not been reported but it remains a concern with Forteo. (The daily injections are also a downside.)

It is a incestuous relations ship between congress, big pharma, and FDA who congress controls.
