“Meanwhile, James Brown biopic Get On Up took third place with a modest $14 million debut. “
Why do they keep making outdated rock star biographies like this? They’re all the same, they start out great but always end up tragic and sad, and the movies never make any money. Are they just full-length ads for the soundtrack?

If you go, make sure to sit through the credits to see the VERY cute vignette placed at the end. It sets things up for a potentially great sequel. I really liked the end credit scene, but would be very surprised if it was setting up for a sequel. Without spoiling it, I think it is safe to say that the scene was an homage to one of the biggest box office bombs of the 1980s.

If I remember right, he was basically altered for the purpose of being law enforcement “Ranger” Rocket in order to help serve a lunatic asylum.

Haven’t seen the movie yet - looking forward to it - but interesting that of all characters that one is being considered for a reboot.

Yes! It’s late summer, kids are bored to death, can’t go to the beach. What else to do but take them to the movies. The perfect movie storm.

Of course the money is the only thing that matters to them but I also think that keeping quiet on actual attendance data helps keep us little old peons from noticing declining viewership and ever inflating ticket costs.

No offense to you but it's amazing what mindless driveling crap passes for film these days. A raccoon? Green comic book people?Marvel's Star Wars comic book (immediately following the first film) had a giant green rabbit.

It’s funny how $$$ sales of tickets (not numbers) make headlines, as if anyone who does not have a financial stake in the movie (production team or studio investor) would give a damn.
“Ooooh! I bet my ticket money on the number one winner! Boo ya!”

Don’t know. Haven’t seen it. Could be a big stinker. But when it comes to mindless driveling crap it would have a long way to go to beat The Exorcist and it’s spawn.

This was very much a kids movie. Heck the matinee I went too had lots of kids and they ate it up. It is an excellent movie IMO.Okay for, say, a 10-year-old who's seen Back to the Future, all the Star Wars movies, all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and the recent Godzilla? Language is an issue (he knows the words, he's been to Walmart, but he's not allowed to use them), but mostly want to avoid sexual stuff and overly bloody violence.

The violence is bloodless( I Can not recall any blood, unless maybe some alien blood) and the sexual stuff is not really there.
