This looks like the perfect thread to ask a question I was going to research today.

My mother recently passed away and me and my sisters have been sorting through her items. She saved so much stuff...lol

Anyway, yesterday we found historic newspapers she had saved. Her collection starts with December 8, 1941 with the bombing of Pearl Harbor as covered by the Birmingham News and covers major events over the years since (Normandy invasion, D-Day, JFK, Clinton, Reagan, George Wallace, Elvis, Y2K, 9/11, etc....just to name a few).

Luckily my sisters had no interest in these so I get to keep them! What is the best way to preserve these?

I plan to take some time today reading them. Looking forward to it. Most of them are Birmingham News, Montgomery Advertiser, with some Atlanta Constitution, and other southern newspapers.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

preserving history is important, even if there is no real $$$ in a lot of it.

Re: Preserving newspapers: How about calling the Archive Department at Auburn’s Library and ask how they do it?
