I find this comment very strange. Who are the particular men? I thought the only men in his family were his grandfather and stepfather. I guarantee the real father never valued or invested in him. Now I haven't been able to get through his books, maybe they say later in the books who all these men are who valued him, but it sure wasn't in the first part.
