CNN/ORC Poll: Americans don’t want House Republicans to sue Obama over executive actions

A note of caution.

Republicans in Congress and in the commentariat are fed up with this White House failing to faithfully execute the law, as is its constitutional charge. Regarding this administration’s selective enforcement of the laws passed by Congress – ranging from DOMA to DACA, from recess appointments made while Congress was in session to the delayed and selective implementation of the Affordable Care Act – the GOP is foursquare behind a proposal to sue the president over his flagrant abuse of authority.

The public at large, however, is less than enthralled with the idea of suing President Obama. “Based on what you have read or heard, do you believe that the Republicans in the U.S. House should file a lawsuit against Obama, or don’t you feel that way?” CNN/ORC pollsters recently asked the public. 57 percent said that the GOP should not sue Obama while just 41 percent supported the lawsuit.

On its face, this makes little sense when compared to another finding in this poll: a plurality of Americans think Obama “has gone too far” in his effort to extend the powers of the presidency. 45 percent agree that Obama is expanding executive authority beyond its appropriate constitutional limits while just 22 percent say he has not gone “far enough.” Only self-identified liberals, Democrats, northeasterners, and urban residents disagree that the president has exceeded the boundaries placed on him by the Founders. Another 30 percent of respondents believe Obama’s actions are “about right.”

How do you square these two incongruous results? While a plurality may believe that Obama has exceeded his authority and should be reined in, the public may also think a lawsuit filed by already suspect congressional Republicans is the right instrument to accomplish that.

I don’t want him sued.

I want him impeached, arrested, convicted, and properly punished for High Treason.

I don’t know what the purpose of polling ORCs would
be, everyone knows they are brainless minions of hell.

CNN doesn’t even try to hide the fact that they and their viewers are ORCs.

Am sure it is true. If most people thought like us you think they’d have elected ODimwit twice? You think the GOP would STILL be in the minority in the Senate? You think that Gay (I’ll say “marriage for brevity) would be supported by the majority? This list can go on and on and on but saying something isn’t true doesn’t make it false. Just ask Baghdad Bob.

This lawsuit is nothing more than a Boehner GOTV ploy. He probably doesn’t have standing AND it will take WAY beyond ODimwit’s term in office before it gets to SCOTUS. By then we’ll probably be in Hildabeast’s Second term.

Only when we finally accept facts for what they are will we ever hope to change America.

OKAY. Resign, congress.

After all, you’re playing small ball, content to play small ball and Obama has already run off with your man parts, your authority and your crayons ions ago. So quit.

Who needs a Republic anyway, Boehner? Just cede your House of Representatives over to the White House, since you have vacated all power of the purse anyway.

Just goes to show that Obama and his democrats in the Press have done a successful job at demonizing Congressional republicans.

If speaker john would just step down we would have a new face and they have to start all over again. That would probably win us the midterm big time.

This lawsuit is for Boehners and the establishment wing of the GOPs sake only. It’s to make it appear that they care, and are going to really do something to stop that evil, out of control Obama from over stepping his authority.

IT WON’T MATTER ANY WAY!

This lawsuit is a bunch of bologne....kabuki theater, if I’ve ever seen it. It won’t have ANY affect on what Obama does or does not do. No one will enforce anything that comes out of the lawsuit.

All one has to do, is look to the recent Supreme court ruling of Obama’s Recess Appts and how well that was received and ignored by Obama and his admin, to know, not a damn thing changes...he just plows right ahead with his agenda, no one stopping him.

Maybe a majority of people think that instead of suing the President, the HOR should have been doing ITS job and not fund Obama's illegal usurping of power. It's like, why should you sue the President for not doing his job as he should when they're not doing theirs?

Can we sue the HOR for that? (sarcasm)

Mark Levin says that suing 0bama is another stupid move by Boner. He says the case will get thrown out because Boner does not have standing (Boner represents one half of congress, he does not represent congress). After the case gets thrown out 0bama will rub Boner’s nose in it. Also, Levin does not want the courts taking more power. Levin says Boner already has the power of the purse strings, but does not use it; which is another reason the courts will throw the lawsuit out.
