CHICAGO (AP) - Fast food workers say they're prepared to escalate their campaign for higher wages and union representation, starting with a national convention in suburban Chicago where more than 1,000 workers are expected to discuss the future of the effort that has spread to dozens of cities in less than two years.

Wonder how these “workers,” who are “barely surviving” now, can afford to lose time, travel to Chicago, and stay there for a few days.

“You can’t fix stupid. “

Sure you can. Just replace stupid with the automated ordering units that some places are already using. Nothing like a salary that’s no salary.

Automation will eliminate most of the fast-food jobs and this demand for salaries far above the workers value to the business will simply accelerate that inevitability. Idiots.

Invest in Japanese companies that make these. I believe that they will be expanding soon into America.

All free treats on the union dime. The union bosses see the cost as a business expense that, if it works, will let them rake in millions of $$$ in forced dues.

Two words: Momentum Machines

Hamburgers are a multi-billion dollar business, and while fast food chains have got the process down to an efficient production line process, making them is still labor intensive with armies of burger flippers and sandwich assemblers. In a move that could put millions of teenagers around the world out of their first job, Momentum Machines is creating a hamburger-making machine that churns out made-to-order burgers at industrial speeds and aims to use it in its own chain of restaurants.

Sure. Wait until a large part of their wage goes to a pinky ring wearing guy named Vinny as initiation fees and union dues.

There’s more: The subsequent higher prices will be good for blood pressure patients. Won’t eat the stuff as much.

Of course the SEIU is behind this. They are frantic to replace all the dues money when their scheme to force home health care givers into their union was declared illegal.

They are cutting their own throats.
If the wages rise to the level they demand, employers will hire not only fewer, but will screen applicants ever more closely for the highest caliber of worker they can get for their dollars. That means all these young people will be left out in favor of older, more stable, more experienced workers that can show up, clean, sober and eager to work.........................

No kidding! I lived in Japan for 14 years and was amazed at the array of products which were sold in vending machines. I’m sure the technology has only gotten better since I left.

"We want to talk about building leadership, power and doing whatever it takes depending on what city they're in and what the moment calls for," said Fells,"

As I just commented on Yahoo!, translated, this means:

"We want to use this 'issue' to build our Democrat power base, to elect more Democrats into Congress and in other positions in order to legislate higher wages and other anti-business lawas and regulations. If necessary, we're prepared to walk out on our jobs, stage sit-ins and astro-turf protests, antagonize and threaten would-be customers from eating at these establishments. If that doesn't work, we'll riot, smash windows, and firebomb these restaurants until they shut down completely, or comply with our extortion negotiation tactics."
