US Airways to resume Tel Aviv flights, other airlines wait

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - US Airways said it would resume flights to Israel later on Thursday after the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) lifted a ban imposed two days ago when a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed near Tel Aviv airport.

About 30 carriers had suspended services to Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel's main hub. Other major airlines have yet to announce a resumption of flights.

Israel had criticized the FAA decision, saying the airport, was safe. Israeli airlines have picked up some of the slack.

US Airways, a unit of American Airlines Group Inc, flies daily to Tel Aviv from Philadelphia and the head of the airline's operations in Israel, Esther Castiel, told Reuters they would start running the route again.

There are a LOT of airports that the FAA should NOTAM as threats for terrorism. These include Washington National, Dulles, airports in Florida, Arizona, and so on

CAIR has a presence in all these locations, and CAIR is HAMAS.

When they see that the American airline companies were begining to lose money and Israel’s EL AL was getting really popular, then the ban became a failure.

True. In fact they do (although the standing NOTAM for DCA does not mention Hamas, it does reference P56, the airspace over the house of a huge supporter of radical Islam, Hussein Obama himself).

The big difference between the FAA's normal use of NOTAM and their ban on pilots and airframes flying through Israeli airspace was done in an unprecedented way. The FAA does not usually get involved where multilateral agreements are in effect. This was done by the FAA instead of the usual travel ban through the State Department, SPECIFICALLY because the FAA carries weight. The rest of the world followed, giving Kerry leverage in his attempt to save Hamas.

We've now seen multiple apolitical agencies of the Federal Government used for political goals. IRS, EPA, NASA, and now the FAA. I never thought I would see that one.

The real danger is that terrorist sympathizers in our government will get a Manpads in the hands of a terrorist and have them now take down a US airliner. After all, the liberal Presbyterians are outraged at Israel’s actions and have voted to condemn them.

unfound tunnels across borders or coastal/seal type insertion, and clandestine movement by a number of independently armed operators is hard to pick up

Looks like Cruz’z holding up Senate appointments worked....he refused to let them open until Obama answered about the “political” blackmail on Israel for the no-fly zone.
