Israeli President Shimon Peres on Wednesday told United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that Israel would not stand by while Qatar, which paid for the UN officials private flight to the Middle East, continued to finance Hamas militants, and took Ban to task for the two UN-run schools found to be housing Hamas rockets in Gaza.
In his last full day in office, Peres, a historically dovish leader, struck a defiant tone in a statement delivered to the media after meeting Ban at the Presidents Residence, in Jerusalem.
Qatar does not have the right to send money for rockets and tunnels which are fired at innocent civilians, Peres said. Their funding of terror the must stop.
Newsweeks Benny Avni reported on Monday that the Qatari government paid for the UN Secretary Generals flight through the Middle East, where his first stop on Sunday was Doha, where he denounced Israels Operation Protective Edges battle in Shujaiya, a border city that had been overrun by competing Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters, and where rockets were hidden in mosques, hospitals, playgrounds and cemeteries connected by tunnels used to infiltrate the Israeli border and attack Kibbutz Nahal Oz a mile away.

US blocked Qatari funds intended for Hamas employee

The United States has blocked the transfer of Qatari funds earmarked for the salaries of civil servants hired by Hamas in Gaza, The Times of Israel has learned.
A diplomatic source in the Gulf state, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Qatar had transferred hundreds of millions of dollars to Arab Bank for the salaries of some 44,000 Hamas civil servants. Those civil servants employed by Hamas in Gaza since its takeover of the Strip in 2007 were rendered jobless by the unity agreement with Fatah last month.
But the money was never processed by Arab Bank and delivered to Hamas, the source told The Times of Israel, due to pressure from the Americans, who consider Hamas a terror organization.
This is strange, since funds from Qatar have never been blocked in the past, the source said, referring to the $400 million aid package pledged by Qatari ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa during his visit to Gaza in October 2012.
Hamass deputy political bureau chief Moussa Abu Marzouk lambasted Arab Bank for neglecting to process the funds in comments posted on his Facebook page June 28.
Israel singles out Qatar as key Hamas terror sponsor

Gulf emirate is branded the villain behind Hamas belligerence, with PMs former security adviser saying it funds tunnel diggers and rocket launchers.
President Shimon Peres accused Qatar on Wednesday of becoming the worlds largest funder of terror due to its financial support for Hamas in Gaza.
Qatar does not have the right to send money for rockets and tunnels which are fired at innocent civilians, the outgoing statesman told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Jerusalem. Their funding of terror must stop. If they want to build then they should, but they must not be allowed to destroy.
Qatars recently attempted to transfer funds for the salaries of Hamas civil servants in Gaza, following the formation of a Palestinian unity government, but was blocked by the United States, which pressured the Arab Bank not to process them. But former national security adviser Maj. Gen. (res) Yaakov Amidror told The Times of Israel that the emirates funding for the organizations terror apparatus, including tunnel diggers and rocket launchers, has continued unabated.
Qatar has gone over to the dark side.
It is the new Afghanistan when it comes to being a launching ground for terror
and how many million $$ did Kerry give the Palestinians???
Israel makes a distinction between the Palestinians -versus- Hamas, as a terrorist organization.
Israel goes out of its way to protect Palestinian civilians from collateral damage, while it goes after Hamas with full force.
Israel also allows aid to Palestinian civilians to go through to them in Gaza, while they have an embargo and blockade for things that Hamas wants for its terrorist organization.
So, one must always keep in mind the difference in the way Israel treats and thinks of Palestinian civilians as compared to Hamas, the terrorist organization.
Obama loves Qatar doesn’t he?
He released the terrorists from Gitmo to Qatar
Al Jazeera is run from Qatar I think, too
Imagine an Arab ME that funded growth instead of explosions, mayhem and death. If you sent every citizen of Gaza to HK and every citizen of HK to Gaza in ten years Gaza would be another Hong Kong and HK would be a Gaza in five.
That’s about right!
Yep, Qatar funds it!
and it is the country that Obama released all those terrorist leaders to out of Gitmo
>> So,one must always keep in mind the difference in the way Israel treats and thinks of Palestinian civilians as compared to Hamas, the terrorist organization.<<
Yes I just love it when the Palestinian civilians celebrate the deaths of Israeli’s and Americans and pass out candy and such. Oh and celebrate when their sons become martyrs by killing innocent people.
Yep, it’s about as bad as those in the USA celebrating Obama being elected! ... LOL ...
Or perhaps, those in the USA celebrating Hamas shooting rockets into Israel.
We’ve got these loonies all over the place!
BUT ... one thing everyone knows, it’s that we haven’t killed or kicked out all those Obama voters out if the country — and neither have we kicked out all those supporters of Hamas and the shooting of rockets into Israel.
If we don’t kill them here or kick them out of the country here, why should Israel kill them there or kick them out of that area?
Mind you, the TERRORISTS are either arrested or killed in Israel, just like they are in the USA.
>> Yep,its about as bad as those in the USA celebrating Obama being elected! ... LOL ...<<
Uh, as much as I dislike Obama I’d have to say not even close. Celebrating someone being elected vs the death of thousands of people ain’t even in the same ball park.
You beat a dead horse like no one I’ve ever seen. Every article about Israel I click on you’re spamming it with the same talking points over and over. You would make an excellent propaganda mouthpiece for Hamas.
Except for the fact that I’m not supporting Hamas, but rather supporting Israel in their stated mission of severely degrading Hamas.
I fully support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in what he has said, in what he is doing, in what he proposes, and in how he is leading Israel.
You’re not getting that from my posts ... only your imagination.
All my posts have been in total support of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s policies and campaign against Hamas, and the IDF’s actions and policies against Hamas.
And I’m also I’m 100% agreement with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s goal of the disarmament of Gaza and his actions and policies in accomplishing this.
I think you’re too wrapped up in your own imagination inside your own head to even realize that ... :-) ...
I think you have a bit of a reading problem ... you better go look at that Post #18 again ... :-) ...
