Some sleezeball, geek, snake keeper finally figured out it was too expensive to feed.
People who keep snakes as pets need some serious mental evaluation.
Better off to keep a native snake. I used to keep garter snakes and had several of them for several years.
Good anaconda snake control: 20 gauge with 7.5 shot. Ooops, I see it is New Jersey. Well, consider throwing stones at it.

I've had pet snakes since I was a boy (I'm in my 60s now). Currently I'm temporarily taking care of my daughter's ball python. Ball pythons are great pets -- requiring very little care, inexpensive to feed, docile, beautiful, slow moving and they don't get too large (most males don't get past 4 ft., and the maximum for a female is around 6 ft.
I agree the non-professional herpetologists who keep large constrictors, such as anacondas and burmese pythons, and poisonous snakes are nutty, as those animals are dangerous.
But small harmless snakes make fine pets for those that know how to take care of them.
I have been amazed my whole life at the extent to which most people are irrationally afraid of non-dangerous snakes. It would be amusing, if it weren't so sad.
BTW, here is a picture of my daughter with her pet ball python, taken 10 years ago. His name is Pyewacket
What kind of conservative are you?
This whole thing is PETA driven. They don’t believe in exotic pets or any pets for that matter.
If you don’t like snakes don’t get one. If you don’t like guns don’t have one.
But don’t control other people’s choices.
As someone that keeps snakes as pets, you have no idea what you’re talking about.
Not to mention that most of the animals being released at the moment appear to be in states where legislation is pending for banning pets. There is evidence that PETA and the HSUS sympathizers have been the ones releasing these animals.
I question there being an anaconda in that lake at all for several reasons. 1. They’re outlawed in NJ. 2. An anaconda will not survive once the temperature drops below 50.
Also, big snakes are not expensive to feed. considering they eat once a month or so. The “too expensive to feed” BS comes from ignorant PETA morons that have no idea what they are talking about.
Average monthly cost for feeding an 18 foot reticulated python is about $25-$35.
So, please keep your insults and ignorance to yourself.
thought you might want to chime in on this thread.......LOL!
There should be laws against selling female snakes in the United States... Especially in Florida where the damn things can reproduce and set up house keeping.
