News about the improving situation for the Allies in Normandy. Singiser compares that situation with the east, where the wider front works to the advantage of the attacking Red Army.

News from Japan, including changes in leadership for the Imperial Army and Navy.

News of the Democratic National Convention, where it is possible that Henry Wallace might be replaced as Roosevelt’s V.P. The front runners to oust Wallace are Senator Barkley of Kentucky and James Byrnes, Director of War Mobilization. Senator Truman of Missoura is considered a dark horse in that race. Still, the smart money says Wallace will keep his place on the ticket.

Wow, I’m old enough to remember Frank Singiser, Gabriel Heatter and Alois Havrilla.
