The CALL7 Investigators have learned from sources familiar with the investigation that two Denver Human Services case workers and two supervisors are on administrative leave after the agency placed four children first with a registered sex offender, and then with a person convicted of child abuse, raising serious questions about whether DHS is conducting proper background checks and following state law.
The family members involved told the CALL7 Investigators they discussed their criminal records with case workers prior to placement, yet the children were given to them, anyway.
Those family members include Aaron and Andrea. Aaron is the father of one of Andrea's children. She has four others with two different fathers. The family's case is typical of those Denver Human Services investigates daily.
"They came 'cause they got reports that I was using meth and crack," Andrea told CALL7 Investigator John Ferrugia. "I knew what I was doing wasn't right."
Andrea said she knew her drug use was endangering her children, and had sent three of them to live with Aaron even before DHS got involved.
Aaron claims he was the person who contacted DHS about the childrens mother, concerned about the well-being of the children living with Andrea. Even so, he was surprised he was allowed to keep the children in his care. He has an extensive criminal history that includes violent gang activity and convictions for providing alcohol to minors and sexual assault. He has to register with law enforcement each year.

What does it take to get fired from a government job???
What ever happened to firing screwups like this? And they did it TWICE!
I was just wondering, if laws were broken, who is going to face criminal charges? Because that is, after all, what the law is there for.
The state should sue the union. or Congress should, if it’s a federal union. whoever has standing. The union is supposed to make sure they have member/employees that do their job.
I wonder if this would fall under the deprivation of rights under color of law statute.
This kind of thing is difficult to avoid. The bee keeps on stinging.
These types of stories just infuriate me. As an adoptive parent, I went through background check after background check (and so did my husband) in order to gain the privilege of having our daughter join our family.
We have friends that fostered and then adopted two boys, brothers ages 3 and 2. The first time they tried to give the children a bath they cowered and cried once in the tub. The bath tub was where they were beaten and abused. And still it took two more years for NY to take parental rights away and allow the children to be adopted. The parents had admitted
abuse and drug use, blamed each other, but still lived together! I don’t even think they served any jail time!
You are a saint. An absolute saint.
God bless you and your family.
....”placed four children first with a registered sex offender, and then with a person convicted of child abuse”....
That’s nothing compared to the illegals they’re letting loose on this country.....released just one guy and he’s already molested a kid and killed the mother.
Not to mention where are they going to farm all these illegal kids out to? You can bet the perverts will be waiting in line to grab a few for themselves...and Alibama’s administration will make certain they process them fast enough the standard requirements will be suspended...just like they’re clearances are at the border.
