Outside of Liberia, where those people actually went because they wanted to. What blacks were ever sent back outside of illegal aliens?
And sending blacks back was actually favored by Lincoln at one point.

Republicans keep thinking of America as “America.” Dems see it as distinct voter special interest pools which can be manipulated using deceptive messages appealing primarily to emotions.

4 or 5 colonies, merged to become Liberia, were settled before the Civil War. Sierra Leone (Britian’s home for ‘rescued’ American blacks who fought with the British in the Rev War), was settled at the same time. The intent was for these colonies of repatriates to then set up stable governments so as to prosper from international trade, made easy for them by their prime coastal locations.
Liberia declared independence from the US in 1847; Sierra Leone declared independence from Britian in 1961. Slavery was practiced in both.
