Americas largest shotgun manufacturer has decided to move more of its business to the Republic of Texas. The news that O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc. chose not to expand their business in Connecticut shouldnt really come as a surprise. States that have zealously pursued more restrictive gun control policies have seen their historically loyal firearm manufacturers begin an exodus to friendlier locales. Mossberg has decided to move more of its manufacturing process to Texas in light of Connecticuts recent legislative attempts to demonize their industry; such as implementing a confiscation registration process, and outlawing future sales of various firearms categorized by a specific behavior (i.e. assault weapons).
The recent announcement from Mossberg goes to prove that anti-gun policies are, in fact, wrong on virtually every political level. They are generally unpopular, morally abhorrent, administratively unenforceable, socially ineffective, and economically suicidal. In fact, as I have previously written, there is a very strong correlation between gun rights and general prosperity. And that correlation does not exist merely because a few jobs may, or may not, be lost due to a few Bloomberg-approved laws and regulations.
Laws like Connecticuts recent gun-control attempts (or Chicagos gun ban; or New Yorks firearm restrictions; or Californias weapon prohibitions; or
) are generally a barometer for individual liberty. After all, a government that is distrusting of individuals power to protect themselves is unlikely to trust an individuals right to engage freely in the markets, manage business without beauracratic oversight, or make personal decisions about their lifestyle choices. (This explains why the anti-gun crusader, Mike Bloomberg, also has a penchant for outlawing high-capacity sodas.)

These lib state governments are happy the gun makers are leaving. Like when the moron Governor of New-York discovered that Rush had moved to Florida to avoid confiscatory taxes: “We would have raised taxes a long time ago if we knew that would get rid of him.”
Voting with your feet and pocketbook does work.
Hopefully, once Mossberg gets up and running in Texas it will move all of its operations there.
Liberal regimes try to regulate everything. It is their nature to try to manipulate people into going along with their totalitarian agenda.
The good news is that WHEN the SHTF — no longer IF — most all the weapon and ammo manufacturers will be down here.
Now we need to figure some way to get a few more AF bases and Army posts moved this way.
One question though - are they bringing their CT workforce down (who probably mostly votes Dimocrat), or are they going to hire Texans?
A much better link to the whole story...
Liberalism is just Communism Light — it has nothing to do with liberty.
Such a tragedy.......................;^)
I have a 500, and I keep it within reach near my bed. Shell in the chamber, point, slide safety, pull trigger, pump, pull trigger, pump, pull trigger, pump, threat gone.
Never take a gun along in the boat if you might really need it at home!
Very sad day for those of us in CT who don’t suffer from “head-in-a**” syndrome
I live less than a mile from the Mossberg headquarters and went to school with the Mossbergs.
Our little town’s economy is already suffering. This will not be good.
Many thanks to Mumbles Malloy for making it possible!!
