That's the line that got me. The Dow is almost 17k. It set a record high again last week. What recent stock market selloff?

Yes, we are and the only way we are able to pretend otherwise is that productivity is so much higher than during the thirties. If we were using the methods of the thirties and had as high a percentage of people on foodstamps as we have now the whole facade would have collapsed long ago. Some may fantasize that the productivity trend will save us all with robots doing nearly all the work while people live on their government bennies but I don’t think that is what is planned for us in the long run.
