By purchasing the Afghan opium, which constitutes a third of their economy, the drug kingpins are propping up the Afghan economy which the US war on drugs is bent on destroying while driving the Afghans into the arms of the Taliban. So, yeah, the cartels are doing more good for Afghanistan than the US.

Heroin production has soared since the U.S. invaded, just as it did in Sotheast Asia during the Vietnam War. Funny how increased drug production seems to follow U.S. military involvement.
