You're right; they're dying off. But some current FReepers have been regularly tuned into Free Republic since the late 90's before registering.
The fun and the eloquence of spirited debaters made this an interesting website even after zots and many a great opus was posted. I joined when I sensed that the site had been usurped by Bushies and GOP operatives and insiders. Still seems that way oftentimes but a remnant of Constitutional conservatives remains.
