Morning Plum: Rick Perry, the new face of the GOP opposition?
WaPo ^ | 7/10/2014 | Greg Sargent

As the political war over minors crossing the border continues to escalate, Texas Governor Rick Perry met with President Obama yesterday and demanded that he beef up border patrols and seek changes to federal law that would expedite the removal of arriving minors. For his part, Obama prodded Perry to rally Congressional Republicans to pass the $3.7 billion in funding to expedite removals and provide care the president has asked for.

Is this the same Rick Perry that Rove convinced to flip from a dem, so he could run as a republican? The Rick Perry that worked for the Gore Campaign?

He bleeds establishment, and party is just a convenience.

As I recall, Rick Perry was identified as having some unsavory ties with Middle East power brokers during the last election, at least on FR. But I just vaguely remember it. It strikes me as a bit odd that Obama agrees to meet with him (if that is what you call it) about the immigration issue. Perry really stepped on his tongue a few times in the last election. It brought back memories of Dan Quayle at the time to the point that I thought it would be very difficult for him to rehabilitate himself in the future . . . if the MSM wanted to bring up gaffes. Question:

Does anyone think that Rick Perry has been annointed by the “puppeteers” as Obama’s successor?

Perry really stepped on his tongue a few times in the last election.

Either he continues to step on his tongue, or he has revealed what he is really about. He endorsed Mitch McConnell for reelection; McConnell has waged war on the TEA Party. Just weeks ago Perry said Hillary was "A great Secretary of State". The Republican nominee will have to go after Hillary for her disastrous record as SoS. How does Perry do that when he has already publicly praised her performance?

I personally believe Perry doesn't step on his tongue as much as reveals, accidentally or otherwise, just how liberal he really is. Either way, he is not presidential material and falls far short of representing conservative ideals.

I got sucked into all the Rick Perry RINO carpola in 2012 and I’m sorry I did.

As I watched the video of Rick Perry with Hannity I saw a mature adult, a thoughtful governor who is engaged and wants to do the right thing. I also saw a man who is totally perplexed as to how to deal with the sorry unrepentant loser POS who is actively destroying our country.

Did you see the pictures of that meeting yesterday? Did Rick look amused? If you read between the lines Perry said he did a lot of listening and interjected when he could. That means that Obluster was obfuscating and blabbing on and on without seriously addressing anything. My guess is it was another Jan Brewer deal where he lectured her for a half hour.

Rick Perry wants to put the National Guard on the border and lock it down. That’s what we all want so we need to be supportive. If he runs for President we can start picking him apart again.

Opinions vary.

Perry is just fine with giving financial aid and in state tuition too ILLEGAL aliens.

He made clear he believes conservatives “have no heart” because they did not share his pro-ILLEGAL alien position.

He wanted a Superhighway through Texas but opposes a fence on the border but is now complaining about the ILLEGAL hordes able to traipse through because there is not one.

He imposed a nanny-state executive order forcing Texas females as young as 11 to get injections of an unwanted, unneeded, and unproven vaccine; even the most liberal of legislators in Texas opposed his bone-headed move. But it was just fine with RINO Rick.

He endorsed RINO extraordinaire Mitch McConnell for reelection, the same Mitch McConnell who has waged war on the TEA Party.

He endorsed RINO David Dewhurst for senate over TEA Party favorite, Ted Cruz.

He refused to endorse the best conservative in the senate, Ted Cruz. In fact , if Perry had his way Cruz would never have made it to Washington.

Just weeks ago he praised Hillary on the number one issue that Republicans need to attack her, her horrendous performance as Secretary of State. Perry said Hillary was a "great secretary of state".

You may not call these and others the acts of a RINO but conservatives do.

Rick Perry, no, thanks! How we forget he supported in-state tuitions for illegals. He tried to come across so sweet in the Hannity interview. Give me a photo / audio of him telling Obama how bad things are going on at the border versus a humanitarian crisis for immigrates little interview ( this un American reformation all orchestrated by Pelosi, Biden and Obama). And Mr. Plum is really going to step up. When? Doesn’t he have authority vs. begging the feds who are not about to help. Think about a governor’s independency to protect their own border.

That photo of him with the sore look could have been a stage purposely for a laugh with Obama. I don’t believe any of them since they are up so high in the ladder of the power circles. Hardly any representative wants to stand up to any president unless it’s some whacko leftist that makes fools of themselves (Sheila Jackson Lee comes to mind) Who really will break bad/harsh on a president. John McCain. Obama knows he is untouchable so, he does anything that he wants. His teflon is his media. I don’t care what his race is. He’s a corrupt man/ a puppet, I think. Look how he giggles in public /doesn’t take issues seriously as the nation suffers. Let us say, he does take only his gay agenda and protection to radicals(that we must not offend) Very close to his heart.

Pay attention. Perry is currently one of the main topics in the news. As long as he is he will receive attention. You’re fairly new here so maybe you didn’t know that. You’re forgiven.

How we forget he supported in-state tuitions for illegals.

Some forget and some never cared. Those who continue to be vocally supportive of La Raza Rick could fall into either category. My guess is the latter.

Rick Perry did not pass the Texas Dream Act the Texas legislature did.

Perry has repeatedly stated that he made a mistake with the EO on Gardasil. And if I remember correctly that Gardasil initiative always had an opt out clause. If you didn’t want your kid to get the shot all you had to do was say so.

As far as the Texas corridor goes I read an interview with Perry several years ago where he said that Texas just does not have an adequate highway system and he was mostly just interested in getting some new roads built. I have to take the guy at his word. If he’s lying then bad on him.

The guy is good at creating jobs, he sure as heck isn’t going to try to take my gun away from me, he’s not pushing gay marriage and abortion and he is a states righter who seems to seriously want to reduce the size of the Federal govt.

I don’t love some of Perry’s ideas about immigration reform but he is from a state that has a really high percentage of Hispanic population. Other than Ted Cruz there is no potential GOP candidate for 2016 that is not willing to do some kind of amnesty whether it be large or small.

Wait til Mitt jumps back in the 2016 race. Perry is going to look better and better to conservatives of which I am one. Maybe the number two choice after Cruz. Right now I see nobody that looks promising other than Cruz and Perry.

He's certainly a friend to Mexico (which is ok tho, not supporting illegalities).

I am sure the media will elevate him again. He's quite a character. I use to really like him but over time, he's shown that he's just another politician with upside down convictions. I bet he begged Obama yesterday for help vs. telling him straight up, you caused this and I am closing that border. The politicians all have their amnesty. Its just has to sink in to the population.

Rick Perry did not pass the Texas Dream Act the Texas legislature did.

He enthusiastically signed it into law and defends it to this day. He even called conservatives “heartless” who did not agree. That is the record of a RINO.

Perry has repeatedly stated that he made a mistake with the EO on Gardasil. And if I remember correctly that Gardasil initiative always had an opt out clause. If you didn’t want your kid to get the shot all you had to do was say so.

The opt out isn’t the issue. What we witnessed with his nanny-state EO is his thought that he had authority to bypass the legislature on an issue he felt passionate about. Obama does the same thing daily and look where that has gotten us. Not only did Perry believe in his bone-headed EO, he chided the legislature for overturning it. If he is contrite now, it is only because he has come to realize that conservatives, something he is not, will never elect a man who thinks he is king.

As far as the Texas corridor goes I read an interview with Perry several years ago where he said that Texas just does not have an adequate highway system and he was mostly just interested in getting some new roads built. I have to take the guy at his word. If he’s lying then bad on him.

Respectfully, that is about the weakest defense of RINO Rick on this issue that I have ever heard. One stated opposition Perry voiced to a border fence was that it would go through private land. Yet he apparently has no problem building a mega-super highway through…guess what…private land. Moreover, he has been less than honest with the people of Texas on the issue because he knows how unpopular the idea is. It is unwanted, but RINO Rick doesn’t give a damn.

The guy is good at creating jobs, he sure as heck isn’t going to try to take my gun away from me, he’s not pushing gay marriage and abortion and he is a states righter who seems to seriously want to reduce the size of the Federal govt.

Perry propped up the Texas economy using Stimulus money, i.e, federal taxpayer dollars. Had he does so without them he would have something to boast about. And of course he is not anti-Second Amendment, he would never have been elected governor of Texas if he were. As for not pushing gay marriage and abortion, see my last sentence.

I don’t love some of Perry’s ideas about immigration reform but he is from a state that has a really high percentage of Hispanic population. Other than Ted Cruz there is no potential GOP candidate for 2016 that is not willing to do some kind of amnesty whether it be large or small.

What you say you don’t love is a long history of being pro-ILLEGAL alien, yet you are willing to overlook it. I find that strange. From his enthusiastically supporting taxpayer subsidized financial aid and instate tuition to his criticisms of all who disagree, Perry is pro-ILLEGAL alien. While his recent protestations are intended to fool the gullible, they haven’t worked on those who know and are not willing to overlook his long pro-ILLEGAL alien history.

Wait til Mitt jumps back in the 2016 race. Perry is going to look better and better to conservatives of which I am one. Maybe the number two choice after Cruz. Right now I see nobody that looks promising other than Cruz and Perry.

If you believe comparing him to Mitt Romney is a valid defense of his record you are mistaken. He is also better than Obama. That does not mean he is conservative and it falls far short of establishing him as presidential.

Whoever goes against Hillary will have to attack her on her horrendous record as SoS. How can a man who praised her as a “great Secretary of State” do that?

Ya think? lol!

"President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace..."

Those words would never and should never be spoken by a conservative. But La Raza Rick Perry said them.

Well if we smear every potential candidate for the GOP nomination who will be left to vote for?

It seems like we have already written off Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee and now I guess Rick Perry.

That leaves Ted Cruz. What if he doesn’t make it? What if
Mitt jumps in? He might squeeze Ted Cruz out with money. then what?

Sorry I’m done smearing Perry.
