The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss., reports that campaign adviser (And future appointed Senator when Cochran retires in January 2015) Austin Barbour said the campaign made a mistake when disclosing large sums listed as reimbursements for Campaign Walkers to staffer Amanda Shook.

The cochran campaign screwed up big time. The NRSC and Cochran campaign may well have cost Republicans a Senate seat.

I used to be Treasurer of a PAC for a Republican group. One of the first rules I put in place for everybody - we accepted only checks and all payments were made by check. Requests for reimbursement had to be in writing, accompanied by invoices and authorized by the President before any check was issued. All non-profits need to tighten their money handling rules and institute hard and fast accounting and audit rules, regardless of whether they are for a political organization or some other type.
Really get tired of hearing horror stores about non-profits losing track of money or not being taken to task because they allowed fraud or theft to occur. Absolutely no reason for it.

A Republican asking the FEC for a do-over? Best of luck with that one.

Austin Barbour needs to take a canoe trip down a soon to be flooded wild river.

Well then, it was just a mistake, so everything is ok. </s>
