Here's How Fox News Covered Today's Awesome Jobs Report
Business Insider ^ | 07/03/2014 | Colin Campbell

While Thursday's jobs report demolished expectations and sent the country's unemployment rate plummeting to 6.1%, the Fox News Channel noted the "real" unemployment rate was twice that number. Citing the figure the Bureau of Labor Statistics calls "U-6," defined as the "total unemployed, plus all marginally attached workers plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of all civilian labor force plus all marginally attached workers," the conservative-leaning news channel emphasized the higher number.

"Brand new monthly jobs numbers to tell you about," a show anchor said Thursday morning, according to video provided by the left-leaning group Media Matters. "The unemployment rate [is] falling 0.2% to 6.1%. But with many out of the labor market, we need to point out the real unemployment rate stands at 12.1%."

Economy shrinking 2.9% ... it will certainly be unexpected if next quarter takes us into an official recession.

Although, I suspect that simply won’t be allowed by the statisticians.

Business Insider doing the job Americans don’t want to do (i.e. supporting government lies).

There is a redefinition of employment going on for younger people who are being put into the 30 hour a week “job” situation under the Obamacare employer mandate that hasn’t fully kicked in yet.

That's the reason they 'downgraded' Q1 from -1.7% to -2.9%. It gives them enough cushion to report positive growth in Q2. It goes something like this:

Actual numbers:
Q1 | -1.7%
Q2 | -1.1%
Total | -2.8%

Two consecutive quarters of decline = Recession

Revised numbers:
Q1 | -2.9%
Q2 | +0.1%
Total | -2.8%

One quarter decline followed by one quarter growth = No Recession

Yet another Colin Campbell. I understand why the Campbells are fond of that name, and it is gratifying that the tradition seems as strong as ever.

The current population of the USA is 319,000,000 people. The joy of today’s job numbers is nothing to be joyful about. There are currently 92,000,000 American that are unemployed and have stopped looking for work!!! That 288,000 jobs number released today, when measured against the true USA population is a diaster!!!

Maybe, when the USA had 300,000,000 people it might be a decent number, but not today!!! Plus this number is inflated for a number of odd reasons, and will drop significantly in July. Plus....the overall economy will contract for the first half of the year!!! Until Obama is gone, the USAeconomy will stink...no matter what the “Wall Street: Vermin on CNBC tell you!!! FNC has this game right 100%!!! The only jobs that have gone up are “part time Jobs”!!!

The best place to look for non-statist information on unemployment is John Williams Shadow Stats:

Have you ever wondered why the CPI, GDP and employment numbers run counter to your personal and business experiences? The problem lies in biased and often-manipulated government reporting. --John Williams, Shadow Stats

Congress will probably give Obama his billions to help absorb the onslaught of illegals, and the spending of that money will help make the GDP look better. He's probably also sending billions to the "rebels" in Syria and Lord knows where else... all of which will make the economy appear to be doing something.
