MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) Dozens of American flag-waving protesters Tuesday greeted detained undocumented immigrants as they began arriving at the U.S. Border Patrol Station in Murrieta.
Approximately 140 people were flown into San Diego from Texas at 11 a.m. and bused to Murrieta around 2:20 p.m., with similar groups expected to arrive every three days.
After the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) buses were impeded by protesters Tuesday, the buses were seen driving away from Murrieta headed southbound on the 15 Freeway. It was not immediately clear where they were headed.
The immigrants are being sent to California because Texas border officials are overwhelmed by a recent surge in illegal border crossings.
Murrieta was one of the cities chosen to help process the immigrants because it has a federal border protection facility.
Border Patrol agents describe the recent rush of immigrants who have crossed into Texas illegally as largely families with children, as well as children who have crossed alone.
The increase has been linked to rumors in Central America that children are eligible for legal U.S. residency, in addition to violence and extortion from gangs in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
Once processed, the immigrants will join family and friends with faith-based charities.
Murrieta held a town hall meeting Monday where Mayor Alan Long assured concerned residents that the immigrants have no criminal backgrounds and that health screening will be done. Some of them will likely be detained and could be outfitted with GPS tethers, according to CBS2′s Tom Wait.
Still, Long urged residents in the suburb of 107,000 people some 60 miles north of San Diego to call their elected officials and voice opposition to the plan.
What weve been told is that most of these immigrants are families. These are mothers and young children, or fathers and young children, Long said. What will happen is once theyre processed by the border patrol theyll be released to ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents who make sure they get to their destination or transportation hubs.
The fight over the crisis continues in Washington, D.C., where President Barack Obama is looking at ways the secure the border by executive action.
He says he can no longer wait for congressional immigration reform, which has outraged Republican lawmakers as they contend the president is overstepping his authority.
Americans stood in the road and blocked the buses.
Buses are now headed south on the 15
We have enough illegals living in California, we don’t need anymore!!!
Send them home
“Approximately 140 people were flown into San Diego from Texas “
Sneak into America and few days later, you’re a `jet-setter’!
I wonder how many of these kids were advised to claim they were victims of gang violence, whether they were or not.
Blocking the buses - YES! We need to see this everywhere.
Good for the good people of Murrieta, my daughter lives just a few miles from there, I’ll have to call her to see if she was involved, and what she knows about the situation.
How can you “join your families” if you left them in another country?? The media thinks we are all fools.
Dump them on their embassy’s steps or have the bus make a left to the border. It makes no sense to keep them in the US unless you’re out to destroy the nation.
Where the hell is Rick Perry, the governor of Texas.
He is AWOL!
If they can fly them from Texas to California, why can’t they fly them from Texas to Central America where they came from?
“Where the hell is Rick Perry, the governor of Texas.”
He’s busily working for the Commies down at they US Chamber of Commerce, to see if any of these “immigrants” will fill their job requirements. I wouldn’t vote for Rick Perry for dog catcher and I’m glad he will soon be gone as Governor.
I love the line that says President Obama is planning to “secure the border” by executive action. Yes, in the same way that the fox “secures” the henhouse.
Dump them at the Sidwell Friends school and let them spread their diseases to the elite media’s kids and Hussein’s kids who refuse to report about the horrific diseases they have.
.
Airplane flights, bus rides, way too much money being wasted.
Brian Williams on NBC just described the buses being turned back as “an awful scene”.
I bet Shepherd Smith agrees.
I am betting the buses will return in the dead of night.
The buses will just sneak back in the dead of night.

GMTA. I had not seen your comment and I posted this at #19. Strange that we used the same phrasing.
I am betting the buses will return in the dead of night.
