In a stunning reversal, infamous Cannibal Cop Gilberto Valle will likely have his conviction for a bizarre kidnapping conspiracy scheme overturned on Tuesday after a judge decided to revoke the guilty verdict in the flesh-eating fetish plot, a source said.
The disgraced NYPD veteran, who was convicted of hatching a heinous plan to cook, kill, and eat several women including his own wife was facing life in prison for the crime.
But Valle will likely have the major charge of conspiracy overturned and the sentence vacated with only a misdemeanor charge of using police computers to track down women, The Post has learned.
The misdemeanor charge would leave Valle with only up to a year in jail which he has already served.
Valle, 28, had compiled a list of women and used the NYPDs federal database to collect information on them.
Prosecutors said he planned to kidnap three women during the week of Feb. 20, 2012.
A document found on his wife Kathleens laptop at their Forest Hills, Queens, apartment was titled Abducting and Cooking Kimberly A Blueprint.
The same document included the materials one would need, and included a gag, rope, chloroform and a tarp for a car trunk.
He also professed a desire to become a professional kidnapper and revel in the suffering of his victims as they were roasted alive.
His lawyers have argued that the jury couldnt differentiate between Valles sick fantasies and actually plotting to act them out.
Obviously, the case involved thoughts that were unusual and bizarre and, frankly, very ugly, and we think that the jury just couldnt get past that and they never got to the law, his lawyer, Julia Gatto, said after the verdict in March 2013.

He will be released, change his location and his name, and start his new career. This guy is truly dangerous.
Any judge who releases him should have him live next door to one one of his daughters. I mean, since it’s just a fantasy. What could go wrong?
Its an all around tragic story, with a Humpty Dumpty ending. How do you come back from being removed from the police force due to your Cannibal Fantasy life on the net? I don’t understand why his guilty plea has been disregared. I don’t expect he will get joint custody of his children, but in todays world, I would not bet even on that.
It is NYC after all, the font of all civil rights and nurturing home of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Even she might have some trouble with Cannibal Cop because he did not include any men in his “fantasies”.
The judge's daughter looks delicious.
A liberals point of view... This poor soul is just misunderstood, he wouldn’t really have done it, well maybe he might have done it. (sarc)
So when will the NYPD be reinstating him?
Setting aside this a--hole's sick fantasies, this was a serious violation of the public trust. I think it should be a felony (10-20 years in prison)for a law enforcement official to use a government databases for personal use.
So we put another crazy back on the street and we will act totally surprised when he acts. And, if he kills his next meal with a gun, we will blame the gun culture for it.
If the conviction is overturned, he should be held indefinitely in a mental institution, never to be allowed out in public.
You have to admit, with a completely new plot of course, a horror movie titled “Cannibal Cops” would likely have a pretty good box office.
Start with some rural town in the South, where the police arrest people on minor charges, then pass them on to a BBQ restaurant operated by retired cops. Then word gets out to the other local police, Sheriff’s departments and state police that it is the *best* BBQ ever.
I think a good gimmick for the movie is that their victims are unsympathetic, like PETA agitators, whiny hippies, lawyers, etc.
Big flaw in his plan, the chloroform would make the meat taste funny.
