(Washington Post) Live within commuting range of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba? Want to work for an exciting educational organization?
Great news! The Pentagon is hiring.
The Defense Department put out a notice Wednesday seeking substitute teachers on one of the most controversial military bases in the world. There are, according to the job posting, many vacancies. (You dont say?)
-SNIP-
The part-time job teaching the children of military personnel pays $50.50-$100 a day. The base has an elementary school and middle/high school both named for Rear Adm. William Thomas Sampson, who fought in the Battle of Santiago de Cuba during the Spanish-American War with about 200 students in all. School mascots are the Sharks and the Pirates.

So do you have a problem with this?
Long ago, my ship did a shakedown cruise to Guantanamo. While there, we had one opportunity to visit the nearest town; "Gitmo City."
Gitmo City was about fifty miles away by railroad and there was almost nothing outside the base other than the end of that railroad track.
A friend of mine spent two years there running the Gitmo base library as a DoD civilian employee.
There are DoDDS schools all over the globe. I don’t know why they’d want to pick on this one. GITMO is probably one of the safest places to be stationed. Boring as heck, but safe.
I started first grade at the US Military school in Poitiers, France, in 1958.
I attended DoD schools most of my pre-adult life (1956-1965). These schools have existed in almost all countries hosting US military bases. Why the snarky article?
I posted the article because I found it interesting, as it turned out to be much different than the title implied, now I find myself explaining that to some one who has obviously been overexposed to sensitivity training, now that's what you call snark.
This comment/question of yours (Why the snarky article?) although it may qualify as snarky, it better qualifies as ignorance.
For every action there is an over-reaction
My snark comment was for the authors of the original article not for you who just posted it.
