Based on data obtained from the Large Hadron Collider, the CMS Collaboration at CERN provided evidence for the first time that the particle assumed to be the Higgs Boson decays into fermions, a broad class of particles that includes many atoms and nuclei.
"We made this big discovery back in 2012we confirmed the particle, its [lack of] spin, everything was consistent," says Marcus Klute, a professor of physics at MIT a coauthor on the study. "What was missing were the fermions."

Klute and his colleagues determined that the 2012 particle decayed into tau leptons with strong degree a confidencethere is just a one in 10,000 chance they are wrong.

“What was missing was the fermions.”
They’re never around when there’s any work to do.

So the universe is one big, drunken party. I like it.

Here is a link to the article in Nature, where the abstract is quite readable.

If “fermion” relates to fermentation, I can appreciate the analogy ....

Theyre never around when theres any work to do. I've noticed that about Fermions. They were probably off partying with the Minions.

They can’t find the dilythium crystals either...

"What was missing were the fermions."Well, they've gotta be around here somewhere. Who had them last?

I just hate it when my bosons decay into fermions....there are too many fermions as it is !!!

Fermions are cousins to Minions....
Below is an image from the Large Hadron Collider.

Fermions, in our lives, are electrons, and in fact electrons are the most influential particles concerning the everyday configuration of matter that we see.
As Dirac said of his equation of motion for electrons, “This explains all of chemistry and most of physics.”

Funny story about Dirac: he was somewhat odd in his social interactions; the first time he met Richard Feynman, he is said to have attempted to open the conversation by saying "I have an equation, do you have one too?" By which he was referring to the "Dirac Equation,"

Paul never got out much. His work was exhausting, owing to his zero point energy.
