Savage: Why should we care who wins in Iraq?
email | June 16, 2014 | Michael Savage

Posted on 06/18/2014 9:14:01 AM PDT by TBP

"Obama's vision of Iraq is out of control," Michael Savage said to his listeners, adding:

I call it "John McCain's War," because many of the elements of the invading army coming out of the north of Iraq are identical to, if not a part of, the so-called "rebels" in Syria who've been fighting Assad.

So which side should we be on?

How about no side?

Does it make sense for us to take a side in the Shia/Sunni battle that's been going on [14 centuries] now?

The fight between Islam's Shias and Sunnis goes back to the death of Muhammad and who should lead the Muslim community.

They kind of got along until Jimmy Carter permitted the Iranian revolution of 1979 to metastasize around the world.

What are we still doing in the Middle East?

How many young men and women died because they believed President Bush's b.s. about weapons of mass destruction?

What were they fighting for? Are we just mercenaries for foreign powers?

That's what it's starting to look like.

Why should we care who wins in Iraq?

Why should we care who wins? They're both our enemy.

Indeed - Americans don’t care.

but people in power see the need to protect the Saudis and get involved in their proxy wars.

Me? I don’t see it. I would like to see Saudi Arabia turned upside down

"How many young men and women died because they believed President Bush's b.s. about weapons of mass destruction?"

How many times do we have to defeat this historically inaccurate meme?

Why should we care what a Moonbeam Brown contributor thinks?

When your enemies are destroying each other, it’s best to stay out of their way.

Legitimate American interests there:

Protect Israel

Protect Christians

Support the Kurds. They seem more able to govern themselves than most of the people in that benighted region. Goal: an independent Kurdish nation carved out of Iraq, Turkey, and Syria, with access to the Mediterranean so they can export their oil.

Support the Afghan tribes of the Northern Alliance

Keep Russia from taking the Bosporus

We care for the same reason we originally did - that state level support will go to the most violent group of Islamic terrorists going at the moment. And that we'll be the target. If we could get a credible guarantee that the new proprietors of the country wouldn't try to harm the U.S. we could afford not to care. Otherwise, we care.

"Caring" does not, of course, translate to a shooting war necessarily. It does translate to not trying to fool ourselves into thinking if we ignore the whole thing, it will go away.

Honestly, I don’t really care.

With America coming apart at the seams, and becoming such a depraved, statist sewer, embracing insane crap like fag-marriage, I truly can’t muster any concern or any interest whatsoever. This country is in a death-spiral, and it makes everything else quite moot, as far as I’m concerned.

We’re broke. We can’t protect any of them. Israel can take care of herself.

“How many young men and women died because they believed President Bush’s b.s. about weapons of mass destruction?”

Probably none. The casualties were there because they took an oath to obey the orders of their superiors. Whether they believed it or not, leaders of both stripes said that THEY believed it enough to invade. Hindsight notwithstanding, it’s never been conclusively proven that there were not WMDs in Iraq at the time.

Shiites are 15% of the world wide Muslim population, support too stridently Maliki and anti-Sunni policies and alienate 85% of the world wide Muslim population. Having said that, we’re going to win favor with any of these A-holes and we should even appear to seek it...just do whatever keeps us safer here.

Good post, yours (#6). Regardless of what happens going forward, the Kurds will be able to take care of themselves. But the leaders of the Northern Alliance will eventually pay dearly for allying with us.

As for the regions Christians, no one cares about them. They will disappear from the region, one way or another.

Unfortunately most FReepers are too lazy and too stupid to educate themselves beyond what’s provided by the MSM even when provided with the information. I.e., they’re brainwashed and brain-dead.

A rather well-documented report on Iraqi WMDs -it has pictures too! So maybe they’ll be interested:

Savage is a phony but lowbrow conservative. He’s a contributor to the same libs he blasts. How shallow are some people that they take this obvious snake oil salesman serious?

Most Americans who've not been subjected to exhaust leaks would agree...

Our own country here at home has become a 3rd world, 3rd rate country, run by evil corrupt...As the middle class back bone was beat on and crushed...

Big gov evil corrupt have looted our pockets and the American treasure. Betrayed our veterans while they outlawed freedom and opened our borders, dividing the once united, making American citizenship all but pointless. Millions pour in illegally while they off shored hundreds of thousands of our jobs as they borrowed trillions from the Communist...

It's one big con-job...
