Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Tex.) has dropped out of the race for House majority leader, leaving current Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as the only candidate in the race. Sessions has released a statement announcing his exit, and his spokeswoman, Torrie Miller, confirmed his departure to the Post.
After thoughtful consideration and discussion with my colleagues, I have made the decision to not continue my run for House majority leader," Sessions said. "Today, it became obvious to me that the measures necessary to run a successful campaign would have created unnecessary and painful division within our party."
Sessions had also been considered a potential candidate for McCarthy's current job, GOP whip, but Miller said he won't pursue that post either.

Sessions was a RINO anyway. I want a real conservative to step up!
This crap is ridiculous. This party is irrecoverably broken.
Damn.
Boehner wanted an Amnesty Pimp in a safe RINO district who wasn’t vulnerable to being primaried. Sessions would be primaried if Amnesty was passed with him as the Whip.
According to the News, he was running as a “Red State” Candidate and in opposition to Amnesty. Somebody cut a frickin’ deal to get Boehner’s and Cantor’s boy in that position.
Something’s rotten in the state of Denmark.....and in the House.
Give me a break. More of the same is all they can come up with? Perhaps after Thad Cochran and Lamar Alexander get the boot they’ll get the message.
We’ve got Petey Sessions on tape betraying us on Amnesty.
Huelskamp should run!
No, they will just become more bitter and vindictive as they cater for even more Democrat votes in order to vanquish TEA Party opponents. All their efforts will be spent on primary races with nothing left to fight Democrats in November. Eric Cantor raised $5.3 million, and he spent 96% of that total campaigning against a more conservative Republican.
I thought Jim Jordan was going for it.
I thought Jim Jordan was going for it.

Apparently not.
We went Soviet people. Wise up.
Political parties and the electoral system are completely corrupted by the ruling class.
We have no civil recourse left to us - and the longer it takes for us to recognize the lessons of history and fact - the harder it is going to be to stop this dictatorial oligarchy now ruling us.
Ok. Something else is afoot.
The fact that no real conservative stepped up should tell us a lot.
I can only guess the timing isn’t right.
The coming new congress will see a dozen of Bonehead allies
retire which means less GOPe votes.
In addition, newly elected reps like Brat will be coming in.
In other words, less votes for GOPe leadership in the coming new
congress than there are now.
Odds are much better with the coming new congress.
Easy now, Hensarling may be planning to challenge Boehner for the Speaker’s job.
Well, McCarthy has to run in November.
Right, don’t fill the position till 2015 when we have more TP candidates to choose from. Leave it open for the rest of the year. Ain’t nothing going to get done anyway.

McCarthy is WAY worse than Cantor on amnesty. Guess the big dogs are going to show us-if we complain about building bricks, they will make us make bricks without the straw. Fine. Bring it on. I’m sick of being told who we get, and to like it.
Cobservatives are wanting Jordan or Labrador to run and neither has said ‘no’.
But when Hensarling turned it down one had to think this was being seen as desirable as First Mate on the Titanic.
