You aren't the first person to make this suggestion.

I don't wear a tin-foil hat, but I am not going to pretend this administration would never do something like this.

Compare the outing of a desk jockey by a subordinate of Colin Powell to the outing of a field asset by an as yet unknown WH employee.

From the article:

In the most recent case of a spy being outed, the Bush administration infamously leaked the name of former CIA officer Valerie Plame to a journalist in 2003.

Still beating that drum, I see....

Plame's outing was an accident. Richard Armitrage told Robert Novak in passing that she worked for the CIA, because he had received a memo that mentioned her.

However, the memo didn't say she was a covert agent. So, Armitrage didn't know that. The fault lays with the person who wrote the memo, and didn't properly classify that information.

Nothing was “accidental” about outing the covert CIA operative. Anybody who tries to keep to the original intent for which the CIA was created, gets short shrift in this Current Regime. The mission has changed, not merely as mission creep, but as a whole, 180 degree, turnaround. The purpose is to establish the Worldwide Caliphate.

The structure once known as “the White House” has been turned into what I term the “White Hut”, fit only for the son of a goat herder and an anthropologist gone native. It was designated as the new “palace” of this Worldwide Caliphate by no less than that moral champion, Robert Bergdahl, who, despite his rather “Scandinavian-sounding” name, is a full-fledged convert to Islam, when he proclaimed, ‘In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate.’ The phrase consecrates the locality in which it is spoken as forever Muslim grounds.

--In the most recent case of a spy being outed, the Bush administration infamously leaked the name of former CIA officer Valerie Plame to a journalist in 2003. Plame, who resigned from the CIA after the incident, tweeted on Monday that the White House's mistake this past weekend was "astonishing." No one was punished for leaking Plame's CIA role to the media. Scooter Libby, the chief of staff to then-Vice President Dick Cheney, was convicted of perjury, obstruction and lying to the FBI about the Plame leak. President George W. Bush later commuted Libby's 30-month prison sentence--

--and there is no comparison whatsoever in the two incidents----

Sure smells like it doesn’t it? What really bothers me is the number of top guys in the military and now cia that are no longer on the job. If you don’t agree with the regime your history.
Can the nation really afford to lose all this first tier talent and be ready for battle should Russia or China throw a sucker punch?
Should we wake up the RNC and ask them to question these firings?

This administration never does anything by accident. Cold and calculated, IMHO.

this kind of thing use to be considered treason.

I’m unsure what the 0bama administration could do that would be labelled as such.

I really don’t think there’s anything they could do that a single soul in congress or the press would ever accuse them of treason

“Was this a purposeful act because he objected to the hostage trade?”

I’m going one step further.

There is another “spontaneous” terrorist attack in the works and he was outed to blind our intel in this area so there wont be any record of this “spontaneous” terrorist attack’s planning being reported to the CIA/Obama adm. before it takes place.

“Was this a purposeful act because he objected to the hostage trade?”

Ordinarily I would agree with that possibility, but this isn’t an “ordinary” presidential administration — it runs by it’s own illogic. General Gordon, for instance, does not seem to have been consulted in advance of the deal to repatriate Bergdahl. Now you’d think that the Army’s top general would at least be informed that a deal was in the works.

It seems that decisions withing this administration are tightly held by the political advisors. Seldom to the operational chiefs get a say in anything. Speaks volumes about the level of control Hillary had while she served as Obama’s SecState. I always had the feeling that where policy was concerned she was “out-of-the-loop”.

Accidental, my a$$! This was paybacks, in the words of VeeJay the POTUS apparent—and a reminder to the rest of the flunkies not to disagree with Duh-1.

In that hostile atmossphere, the COS should have been put on the next plane out. Those fanatics would dearly love to “suicide bomb” any high level CIA personnel that is outed.

I read somewhere yesterday that Col North is alleging a 6,000,000 ransom was paid. If so my guess is this person would have been involved in some capacity either in the exchange with the Haqqani network or fund acquisition. He was sure to articulate what this was going to do to his assets and anyone who was helping the USA. They didn't like it and his name is on a list.

So what if he objected? Transfer him. Retire him. No, this was something more. The Taliban wanted to know WHO was CIA and who was not. They out this guy, the chief of station, and then it’s a relatively easy thing to figure out who the rest are. Check his known associates, check his habits. This outing...and it’s no accident...was either a gift to the Taliban or an answer to their demands. We give up say Obama...and here’s the top guy...do what you can with it...oh by the way we’ll be releasing 5 of your guys too like you asked.

Done intentionally. If oboingo claims it wasn’t, it’s automatically a lie, and the truth is the exact opposite.
