Since this a logical and obvious thing the USA could do, the Administration probably assigned someone to make sure that trackers were not inserted.

Nope. Their health care is portable. They can go to an American medical facility anywhere and get free treatment. They don’t even have to show ID.

I strongly encourage everyone to read Michael Hastings' 2012 Rolling Stone piece on Bergdahl. Hastings since died mysteriously in a car accident but his article sheds light on how much the Admin knew about Bergdahl and just how controversial he was. It also shows how they have wanted to make this prisoner swap for a long time to score much needed political points. Eye opening.
