Politico Exclusive: Hillary Clinton’s Benghazi Chapter

Hillary Clinton offers a detailed account of the deadly attack on the American embassy in Benghazi — and a pointed rebuttal to Republican critics who’ve laced into her over the incident — in a much-anticipated chapter of her forthcoming book, “Hard Choices,” obtained by POLITICO.

“Those who exploit this tragedy over and over as a political tool minimize the sacrifice of those who served our country,” Clinton writes in the gripping chapter, “Benghazi: Under Attack.”

Casting doubt on the motivations of congressional Republicans who have continued to investigate the attacks, including with an upcoming House select committee, Clinton continues: “I will not be a part of a political slugfest on the backs of dead Americans. It’s just plain wrong, and it’s unworthy of our great country. Those who insist on politicizing the tragedy will have to do so without me.”

The 34-page chapter is Clinton’s most complete account to date of the attack and its aftermath. Her tone is less defensive than defiant: Clinton takes responsibility for the “horror” of the loss of life in Benghazi, but puts it in the context of “the heartbreaking human stakes of every decision we make” — and she accuses adversaries of manipulating a tragedy for partisan gain.

There has been, she writes, a “regrettable amount of misinformation, speculation, and flat-out deceit by some in politics and the media,” but new information from “a number of reputable sources continues to expand our understanding of these events.”

The chapter appears intended, in part, to give Democrats a clear framework to respond to Republicans who have raised questions about Clinton’s role and what the Obama administration has said about the Sept. 11, 2012, killing of four Americans. The section was obtained and reviewed by POLITICO on the eve of a meeting in which members of Democratic-leaning groups will be briefed by Clinton’s team about how she addresses the attacks in the book.

And in a sign of the concerted effort to rebut the ongoing controversy in a cohesive way, Clinton’s camp has brought on former National Security Council spokesman and longtime President Barack Obama hand Tommy Vietor to assist in the response to the book, a source familiar with the plan said.

Considering her BULLSTALIN story about this being random protests over an unseen youtube video, YEAH I'd say there was misinformation and flat-out deceit at play by this administration. They even colluded with the MSM to lie for them to save Obama's re-election chances.

As usual, Mrs. Clinton, you have it exactly 100% wrong! Not finding out what happened in Benghazi, including who on our side and who on the other side was responsible for the travesty is what minimizes the sacrifice of those who served our country. And lying to the families of the deceased when their caskets were brought home minimizes their sacrifice in the most callous and self-serving manner possible.

If I’m not mistaken, Vietor is the guy who said “Dude, it’s been two years” to Brett Baier. He also spilled the beans that Obama was not in the Situation Room. I saw Democrats who said putting him on was a mistake because he came across as juvenile and unprepared (I saw that interview & it was ridiculous). I think Hill has made a big boo boo - she obviously wanted someone who would say “how high” when she barks “jump”. This should be entertaining. BTW, I believe Vietor’s previous experience involved driving a campaign bus for Obama ..... he’s one of the Obamabot incompetents with which Obama has surrounded himself.

LETS STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE Hillary had a nasty fall when she was about to testify WRT Benghazi. Hillary's all-girl State Dept said she was "up and about" in a week. But Bill recently said it took Hillary six whole months to recover from her fall.

Now the issue of Hillary's blood clot resulting in brain damage has been raised......but we need more details.

Blood Clots in the Brain---Blood clots in the brain are frequently caused by injury to the vessels in this area. Symptoms of blood clots include speaking difficulties, dizziness, lack of coordination, headaches, etc......

Causes of Blood Clots in the Brain---- Head injuries or trauma to the brain, head and neck can cause these clots to form in the brain. Blood clots in the brain are caused when bleeding occurs between the skull and the brain. The body will form a clot to stop the bleeding, which will put pressure on the surrounding brain tissue. Trauma to the head can also cause blood clots formed outside of the brain to break loose and become lodged in the brain, which can cause an ischemic stroke.

Travelling clots from other parts of the body will travel to a blood vessel that leads to the brain, causing a blockage that can lead to an embolic stroke or cerebral embolism. These travelling clots are more likely to cause damage to other parts of the body before they reach the brain.

Symptoms of Blood Clots in the Brain---There are a variety of symptoms one may experience when having blood clots in brain, ranging from headaches to difficulty speaking, depression and Ischemic Attack.

Headaches- Headaches associated with a blood clot will normally be found on one side of the head. These can be worsened by coughing or sneezing and can impair head movement or physical activity over time.

Speaking Difficulties- You may begin to slur your words or have difficulty speaking. This is especially prominent if you have a clot on the left side of the brain. Confusion- It may feel as though it takes longer to think, or your thinking capacity is not where it should be. You may feel confused or feel as though it takes longer than usual to understand things.

Changes in Personality- A blood clot can cause your personality to become altered from its usual state. You may suddenly feel very manic or normally energetic people can feel subdued.

Dizziness- Bouts of dizziness may occur from time to time. This may be accompanied by temporary blindness. Depression- Those who suddenly develop depression are frequently checked for blood clots in the brain to ensure that all portions of the brain are getting the right amount of oxygen.

Loss of Coordination- You may find yourself unable to move with the same level of coordination that you are used to. The ability to transfer objects from one hand to the other may be especially affected.

Seizures- Seizures caused by a blood clot can last up to two minutes. Seizures that last longer may be a sign of a more serious condition.

Paralysis- One side of your body may suddenly become paralyzed if you are suffering from a blood clot. The arm, leg and face will be especially affected by this. Ischemic Attack- This is also known as a "mini-stroke," which will cause dysfunction on one side of the body. If this condition escalates it can become a full stroke.

MILITARY.COM reported (during the post-Morsi ousting in Egypt), that US Pentagon officials declined to give specifics on conversations between DOD's Chuck Hagel and brilliant tactician Egyptian Gen al-Sisi, who replaced Morsi.

(NOTE Gen al Sisi, 58, received a masters degree from the U.S. War College in Carlisle, Pa, in 2006. The General is revered by Egyptians for routing the Muslim Brotherhood which Egyptians consider a terrorist organization.)

Although officials would not discuss the specifics of the military-to-military talks, the US would need Gen al-Sisi's approval to move through Egyptian air space if Washington decided to send Marines to aid in the evacuation of U.S. personnel.

READY TO ROLL About 550 Marines and their tilt-rotor MV-22 Osprey aircraft are at bases in Spain and Italy on standby if they are needed. A Navy Amphibious Ready Group with 4,000 Marines and sailors aboard, led by the helicopter assault ship Kearsarge, was also in the region following completion of the Eager Lion training exercises in Jordan.
