Is White House treatment of military & vets part of grand plan to discourage Americans serving?

You always have to be on the lookout for backdoor schemes by Washington D.C. politicians as they pander for votes while dismissing the plight of the American people.

My dad, who served in World War II, taught me that it is a distinct privilege to don the uniform of this nation and serve in its Armed Forces. He began a tradition that has now spanned four generations in the West family, including my older brother, myself, and now my nephew.

But something quite disturbing is happening on Capitol Hill regarding wearing the uniform of our nation – disturbing, because history has proven it to have fateful consequences.

As reported by Fox News, “The Pentagon is weighing allowing some immigrants brought illegally to the country as youths to serve in the military, a unilateral step by the Obama administration as immigration legislation remains stalled in the Republican-led House.” I stress the word “unilateral.”

The Pentagon consideration would apply to immigrants who arrived illegally as kids but already have received work permits and relief from deportation under a program President Barack Obama announced two years ago, called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.

In essence, President Obama has decided the legislative process is simply below him and enacted immigration policy by executive order fiat — and I’m quite sure the progressive socialists will respond by saying, “what difference at this point does it make?”

Well, it makes a whole lot of difference because we still are a Constitutional Republic, a nation under the rule of law. We have a system of coequal branches of government, checks and balances, and a defined legislative process by which bills are passed — and signed into law by the Executive branch, which is sworn to uphold the law — and that means all laws equally applicable across the country, not by selective enforcement.

Serving in our American military is not something to be brokered — for many it is a time-honored tradition for those born here in America, or for those who respected our laws and are now legal immigrants. It was such for my father-in-law who was born in Jamaica, served two tours in Vietnam with the 23rd Americal Division, and retired honorably as a US Army Master Sergeant.

It seems Obama wants to “outsource” our military to illegals as a means of pandering for a demographic vote. There is a legal means by which you can earn American citizenship — which may not have adverse effects upon our national security.

Is it just that important to the “fundamental transformation” of our country to redefine service to our nation in uniform as nothing more than a ticket-punching pursuit — with the ramifications being our national security?

And shall we then mandate that in order to facilitate illegal immigrants, the U.S. military will accept other languages?

History shows the folly of this approach. When the Roman legions became less comprised of Roman citizens and more of those from anywhere within the Empire, the commitment to Roma Victor lessened. How can we decide to accept an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution from those who have already disregarded this basic law of the land?

Now I know there will be many who call this point of view insensitive and uncaring. But I will not sit idly by and watch the Army and military that I love become some political tool. The purpose of serving our nation should not be about earning citizenship. It should be about being a guardian of the Republic.

And how can you be a guardian of something you disregarded?

Perhaps there’s something more nefarious at play here emanating from the Obama administration. Maybe the purpose behind the decimation of our military and the poor treatment of our veterans is to discourage Americans from wanting to serve — thereby opening the door for illegal immigrants.

Then, where will their loyalties lie? Will their oath be to the Constitution or to the group that traded distinguished and honorable service for a political gimmick and a special privilege: the honorable title of American.

I will not support this measure and will speak out against anyone supporting this, Republican or Democrat. It’s called the U.S. Military, not the U.S. Illegal Immigrant Citizenship Granting Program!

I think they should start a one-time “service suspension”, providing near-paperless military re-entry after a (criminal) Presidency ends.

Now apparently sometimes the electorate loses it’s mind and a really hardened criminal is elected, and I think we have to adapt to that.

The only possibility is that the problems at the VA are intentional and have been done on Obama’s orders as none of these problems exited before he took office.

this brings to mind a question we used to never worry about the answer to: “will US troops fire on American citizens?”

No. It is simply a symptom of a malignantly narcissistic Washington DC establishment, under a malingering grifter named Soetoro.

I think you're blowing political smoke. Check out Walter Reed's history. When in uniform the GI is a hero when he is out, he is a cost.

How many subversive Obamafriendlies have already infiltrated?

Black separatist obamasons, islam, LGBTQ FUBO alphabet soup, activist feminists, PC political officers, quota people of dubious third-world origin...

The vindictive, covetous, grievance subgroups have swooped in like locusts. And as Revelation 911 states, the locusts have a king over them...

No coinkidink that the name BO is synonymous with destruction.

Politicians discourage people from serving. For me the breaking point was Pres Carter granting amnesty for draft dodgers. There were many parents who had kids that did not believe in the war, but resisted encouraging their kids to go overseas. Some of those kids never came back from Nam. Imagine how they felt when Pres Carter granted amnesty to draft dodgers and their own kid who could have ran came home in a body bag.
When I was about to recover my faith then GWB implements Rules of Engagement in Afghanistan and second war in Iraq. Shoot three seconds too early and you could be charged for manslaughter, shoot three seconds too late and you or one of your buddies risk getting killed. Oh by the way, you 2 seconds to make the life altering decision. IAW ALL politicians to one degree or another play CYA with our soldiers lives on the gambling table of politics. That is the nature of American democracy and politics since Vietnam. Not worth risking my kids life over.
The only time kids should join the military is when the enemy attacks or invades our homeland. Unlike overseas wars and adventures, when the homes and local assets of the rich politicians and elites are at stake, they are willing to empower our middle class soldiers all the means to fight and win. Otherwise it is all a BS game.

Let’s be honest. The VA has always sucked. These problems arent’t new. You can blame the President for increased casualties in Afghanistan, low morale, decreasing readiness, and all the gay stuff. As far as the VA goes his biggest problem is that he made promises to fix existing problems at the VA and if anything they got worse. Anybody that thinks Shinseki is the guy to make changes must have forgotten how ineffectual he was as Chief of Staff for the Army.

zero and it's administration have run out of things to do .... so they need something to react to.

This is a pretty good way to maybe flush out someone that might pull a valkyrie.

zero doesn't want to be the one that calls martial law ... it would be better if it was a national security thing ... like an attempted assassination .... and even better if it's a military, ex or retired military.

Walter Reed Hospital is a DOD facility. Specifically it was operated by the U.S. Army. It is in no way connected to the medical system operated by the Veterans Administration.

.....NOW MAYBE IF THE SERVICE MEN GOT THAT FIFTEEN DOLLAR AN HOUR MINIMUM WAGE THEY KEEP TALKING ABOUT......BRINGS TO MIND A QUOTE I SAW SOMEPLACE.”.......WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR SOME.” I PERSONALLY WOULD HAVE SAID “.....WITH LIBERTY FOR SOME AND JUSTICE FOR THOSE THAT CAN AFFORD IT.”
PERHAPS WARS SHOULD BE FOUGHT BY THE PEOPLE THAT SEND THE TROOPS. WE’D HAVE A LOT FEWER FULL GRAVEYARDS, HOSPITALS, AND GRIEVING LOVED ONES.
VIET NAM WAS MY “UNDECLARED WAR” WHICH LASTED TOO MANY YEARS , AND FIFTY-EIGHT THOUSAND TOO MANY YOUNG AMERICANS, AND I SWORE THAT WHEN THE CRAP IN IRAQ STARTED THAT IF IT LASTED TOO LONG THEY WOULD HAVE TO KILL ME TO GET MY SON. OPINIONS CHANGE WITH MATURITY, AND I GUESS I MUST BE GETTING WISER AS I APPROACH MY SIXTY-EIGHTH SUMMER. I MAY BE A SLOW LEARNER BUT OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SMARTER THAN I. SO..... I GUESS I’LL CHALK IT UP TO GREED THAT KEEPS THEM RUNNING THINGS THE WAY THEY DO......
THAT’S ALSO WHY MEDICAL COSTS ARE SO HIGH RESULTING IN INSURANCE COSTS , AND PREMIUMS WE “THE PEOPLE”, CAN’T AFFORD. TRUE PRE EXISTING CONDITIONS WON’T PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING COVERAGE. THE COST OF THE COVERAGE WILL......EVER GET SO MAD ABOUT SOMETHING YOUR BUTT COULD CHEW TOBACCO?

As well, every govt agency has its own police force — e.g., schools. That compartmentalization makes it all the more easy to see who is toeing a particular govt line; who to promote in the force, and who to fire. As is being done in the military w/any dissenters being let go.

More and more, the lines between good and evil form up.
