Rampage in college town began with stabbings [heavily armed: used guns, knives, car]
KEYT ^ | May 24, 2014 | Ralph Ellis and Sara Sidner

"The rampage left six dead and 13 hurt, with eight suffering gunshot wounds, four hit by the suspect's vehicle and one suffering a minor injury "of unknown origin," Brown said.......

.........First, three men were "repeatedly stabbed" and killed inside Rodger's residence. They weren't identified.

Next, members of the Alpha Phi sorority in Isla Vista reported hearing loud knocking on the front door for several minutes. Nobody answered. Several minutes later, witnesses saw three women in front of the sorority house shot by a man from across the street. Two were killed, one wounded. All were UC Santa Barbara students.

Rodger drove his black BMW several blocks, went into a delicatessen and shot Christoper Martinez to death, officials said. Martinez was a UC Santa Barbara student.......

.....Richard Martinez, father of Christopher Martinez, said to reporters. "Chris died because of craven, irresponsible politicians and the NRA. They talk about gun rights, what about Chris' right to live? When will this insanity stop?"....

....One victim, Nick Pasichuke, told CNN he was struck by the gunman's car.

"There are six other people currently hospitalized with me right now. ... There was a guy driving a BMW. I was on a long board and he aimed his car at our group of friends and gunned it into us. I have two broken legs and need surgery. The police said I flew roughly 50 feet into a busy intersection. This is all so crazy."

Ian Papa said he was inches away on the street when the gunman's car sped up and struck two bicyclists......

Indeed! And why is this woman questioning HER behavior and connecting it to the killer's actions?

".......UC Santa Barbara senior Kyley Scarlet said she heard the BMW smash to a halt outside a house she was in. Scarlet, who is a former sorority president, said two women from a sorority next door were killed on the lawn, where a pile of flowers grew on Saturday.

Crying students wandered up to the spot, shook their heads and hugged each other.

Scarlet said she was very disturbed by the video describing his anger at sorority girls.

"It's hard thinking my actions, being part of a sorority, led him to do this," she said."

People need to read up on this "postmodernism" crap the Left is feeding our "youth."

What are the characteristics of Postmodernism?

When listing the chracteristics of postmodernism, it is important to remember that postmodernists do not place their philosophy in a defined box or category. Their beliefs and practices are personal rather than being identifiable with a particular establishment or special interest group. The following principles appear elemental to postmodernists:

There is no absolute truth - Postmodernists believe that the notion of truth is a contrived illusion, misused by people and special interest groups to gain power over others.

Truth and error are synonymous - Facts, postmodernists claim, are too limiting to determine anything. Changing erratically, what is fact today can be false tomorrow.

Self-conceptualization and rationalization - Traditional logic and objectivity are spurned by postmodernists. Preferring to rely on opinions rather than embrace facts, postmodernist spurn the scientific method.

Traditional authority is false and corrupt - Postmodernists speak out against the constraints of religious morals and secular authority. They wage intellectual revolution to voice their concerns about traditional establishment.

Ownership - They claim that collective ownership would most fairly administrate goods and services.

Disillusionment with modernism - Postmodernists rue the unfulfilled promises of science, technology, government, and religion.

Morality is personal - Believing ethics to be relative, postmodernists subject morality to personal opinion. They define morality as each person’s private code of ethics without the need to follow traditional values and rules.

Globalization – Many postmodernists claim that national boundaries are a hindrance to human communication. Nationalism, they believe, causes wars. Therefore, postmodernists often propose internationalism and uniting separate countries.

All religions are valid - Valuing inclusive faiths, postmodernists gravitate towards New Age religion. They denounce the exclusive claims of Jesus Christ as being the only way to God.

Liberal ethics - Postmodernists defend the cause of feminists and homosexuals.

Pro-environmentalism - Defending “Mother Earth,” postmodernists blame Western society for its destruction.

I think he’s dead of a self-inflicted gunshot.

why would he kill his 3 roommates in the assisted living home?

In his manifesto he wrote that he wanted to kill his roommates so he would have the place to himself so he could lure people into his home to torture them. That was going to be phase one of his vengeance. He was a real sicko.

Thanks for the info.

I wonder about caretaker oversight at this facility - no doubt they are talking to lawyers.

The fact that he murdered three roommates at the start of his spree makes it even more clear just how insane he was.

So true.

The back end of his murderous rampage was pretty random after he was unable to get into the sorority house to murder everyone there. However, to murder three of his room mates with a knife close-up took a bit of thought, organization, and time.

My guess is, they suffered horribly and deliberately and this is part of what the authorities are avoiding revealing. I can't imagine a single "clean" stab wound in each victim but a scene of unbridled horror and pain. After all, the killer was a deranged psycho who knew just what he was doing, had planned for it, and was intent on inflicting maximum suffering and pain on his victims - all of whom he considered his tormentors. My guess is he detested his room mates as much as the blond sorority girls and wanted them to suffer to the maximum.

After all, everyone was out to get him and was to blame...

His family was so alarmed by his videos that they contacted authorities. Authorities apparently didn’t see him as a threat. So, as a family, with lots of money, don’t you think it might be reasonable to hire someone to follow him around and/or constantly watch his YouTube? They could’ve caught the video saying “tomorrow is the day” maybe.

Also, what are your thoughts on allowing guns to be sold to individuals with developmental disabilities that are living in special facilities?

He was given a driver's license, though he was in "assisted" living connected to limitations from an Aspergers diagnosis (from what I can gather) - so it's not clear what his limitations were. It seems that his family was concerned and called for authorities to check on him (where does the facilities' responsibility fall?) but the police didn't find anything to worry them. So, where does that leave the family in stopping (committing him for evaluation)? We hear so many stories of people begging for help but that they can't get someone committed (and they end up hurting themselves or others - often people close to them are targets and they can't get anyone to act until it's too late).

Without more information, I can't comment on the appropriateness of his legally buying guns. It is clear that he was capable of using knives and a vehicle to attack and kill. He was a lethal weapon hiding in plain sight. He convinced the cops he was fine. Should there be some way to flag people who may not be emotionally stable enough to buy a gun? No doubt that should be the case but if he wanted a gun, I imagine he would have found a way to get one, or use a knife, or a car, or a golf club or ....

“why wasn’t he able to talk one of those Santa Barbara airheads into bed? A real puzzle.”

I don’t know any SB airheads but he may have never “gotten real”. That is he did not show human weakness.

A lot of women have this compassion gene. All you have to do is accidentally fall down in a group of women and if you are gushing blood, they are all over you.

“why would he kill his 3 roommates in the assisted living home?”

The 3 roommates might have decided this guy needs jail and he killed them for that, but I am just speculating.

The more I thought about it, the more jarring it is that rather than expressing his personal grief, he issued a political statement.

Most people would be speaking of their feelings, of their son, of their loss, it would be focused on themselves and their child, their family unit, their wife and other kids, it would all be about his little piece of life, but not this guy, he spoke of politics.

“”Chris died because of craven, irresponsible politicians and the NRA. They talk about gun rights, what about Chris’ right to live? When will this insanity stop?”....

Ansel12, I think the man was sincerely grief-stricken and was expressing just that. I'm sure he was anti-gun before his son was murdered, so it's predictable he's even more so now. I don't think we should criticize someone who's just lost his child. Do I agree with his political views? No, I don't, not at all. But I won't criticize a grieving parent only hours after the murder of his son.

"....Rodger is the classic rampage killer: young, male, isolated and sexually frustrated. And he appeared to have a pronounced victim mentality.

In his video he says things such as: ‘You forced me to suffer all my life and now I’ll make you all suffer.’

He blamed his suffering on others, and therefore felt his violence was righteous. It was a disturbed reality."....

He mimicked America Psycho - he wanted to be a star: Killer virgin acted out film role because he felt like failure in reality, says criminologist

He blamed his suffering on others, and therefore felt his violence was righteous. It was a disturbed reality.".

That certainly has a familiar ring to it.

That's nice, many of us saw him making a pretty smooth political statement for reporters, rather than expressing emotion about his just killed son and what it meant to his family.

So, we can expect the father of Martinez to next demand the banning of autos and knives? Hypocrites come in so many styles nowadays.

Did you see his video? What a bent nut case. Freud must have been right after all - everything IS sex. This guy was a virgin, therefore he killed, does that make sense to anybody?
