I once sat next to a petroleum engineer for an hour and a half flight from Tulsa to Atlanta.
It was actually one of the most interesting conversations one could imagine. Gasoline, octane, oil etc. is fascinating if the guy really knows what he is talking about.

Once, traveling on business, I sat next to a guy who said he ran his own company, who for the entire flight insisted that the letter "g" in "paradigm" was not silent. Even the person in the seat across the aisle sided with me trying to convince this guy.
Most annoying flight ever... hearing the word "paradijim" over and over and over...
