Just nationalize the burger joints and be done with it. For the good of the many (translated into few union bosses) of course.

Fire them. Close the restaurants for “re-tooling” and release all the employees.
Rehire those who did not whine.

What’s wrong with these protesting people? Going to a fast-food joint isn’t a necessity to live for the rest of us. Can you spell “unemployed”?

“Cherri Delesline, 27, from Charleston, S.C”
The article said there were community activists and McDonald's workers from throughout the country blocking traffic and trespassing.
My first question is if these people don't have enough money to survive as they claim how can they afford airfare, hotels, transportation to Chicago and the McDonald's headquarters.
It is obvious they are flown or bussed in and herded to the protest site.
Who is paying for this?
To: albie
Used to be you could get 8 hamburgers for a dollar on one night a week. I quit going when they took the malt out of the malts. Campbells soup out of the can is fast food now.

Robert Bruno, a professor of labor and employment relations at the University of Illinois at Chicago, said civil disobedience is a long practiced and developed form of resistance that groups without money or political clout use to drag out their oppressor. The fact that workers are willing to travel and get arrested shows that the movement is getting stronger, Bruno said. The election season, he said, creates a platform for the McDonald's workers' campaign. Right . . . the groups are without money but willing to travel. And in a paragraph above a protester from South Carolina said her flight was paid for by a union.

Who is paying for this? Usual suspects, leftist groups....like the SEIU, etc.

RE :”
We need to show McDonald's that we're serious and that we're not backing down, said Jessica Davis, a 25-year-old McDonald's crew trainer.
Davis, a mother of two, works at a company-owned McDonald's in Chicago, said she earns $8.98 per hour and works part-time despite requests for more hours. Most of the protesting workers are employed by franchisees. That makes them a hard group to organize because the union would have to launch a campaign with every employer and gain the support of the majority of the workers at every location.” Maybe if she worked full time she would advance in her work.
She has time for this though, demanding freebees.

Cherri Delesline, 27, from Charleston, S.C., said that she makes $7.35 an hour at a McDonald's and has been working there for 10 years.
That is because you have no skill set, and in the past 10 years, you did nothing to change that.

Hundreds of McDonald's workers and community activists . . . What percentage of the protesters were actually McDonald's workers, I wonder.
