A student group at the University of Notre Dame advocating traditional marriage has been denied official recognition as a campus club at the iconic Catholic institution, although members vow to appeal the decision.

The group, Students for Child-Oriented Policy (SCOP), was rejected in an April 30 letter from the university’s Student Activities Office to Tiernan Kane, the club’s proposed president. The decision was based on a recommendation by the university’s Club Coordination Council, a division of student government, that found the club’s mission “closely mirrored” that of other undergraduate student clubs at the 12,000-student university.

Right is wrong, up is down, left is right. As it was in the days of Noah.

Amazing how far we have fallen.

A supposedly Catholic university, disallows a group devoted to traditional marriage. The Catholic Church only allows traditional marriage. Regardless what happens with the debate on homosexual marriage in our civil laws, Catholic doctrine will still only recognize traditional marriage.

So, we have a situation in which students attending a Catholic university are not allowed to have an organization devoted to upholding a part of Catholic doctrine.

Did anyone ever think they would live to see the day???

Pleased to meet you,
hope you guess my name.
But what's confusing you
is the nature of my game.

Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints.
As heads is tails, just call me 'Lucifer'
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint.

So if you meet me, have some courtesy,
some sympathy, and some taste.
Use all your well-learned politesse
or I'll lay your soul to waste.

That place sure has changed. “Notre Demon” seems more appropriate now.

With what is going on in the VA Centers, one might conclude that ObamaCare is really Obama Death Care.

There is some support being given to this group -- as FoxNews, Drudgereport, and others, are giving this story attention.

The Facebook page for this group currently has one member showing a Texas Longhorn football helmet as his photo.

I imagine this is meant as an insult to Notre Dame football, which is what Notre Dame is known for.

At one time, before Vatican II, I imagine it was a very conservative, Catholic institution.

Over the years, things like football have taken the spotlight, not God...

I have never understood why Universities have to approve groups- last I checked the 1st amendment was not repealed by executive order. But why do student association subject themselves to these fascist procedures? The reason generally is so these clubs can get money from the Student Body Government which dolls out the student fees collected from tuition.

And we wonder why college students come out socialist. The entire student government is based on a system which only purpose is to spend other people's money. Officers are elected by running around campus promising to support and doll out as much money as possible.

There is a big push to make gay ‘marriage’ normal. What’s sick is that is being helped by a branch of the Catholic church.

The cess pool is getting bigger and deeper and it will consume this country and that will end the US as it once was. We are not the world leader anymore.

Sadly, Notre Dame has not been a Cathloic Univeristy for some time. the University generally tries to put on a show for more traditional (read Conservative) Catholic parents. As a Roman Catholic, I wouldn't send my dog to Notre Dame.

The fact that a Student Council denied the application tells you a lot about the student body. Notre Dame = CINO (Catholic In Name Only)- just like Georgetown.

I hope none of our tax money is going directly to that university, as distinguished to students voluntarily choosing to attend.

Catholic alumni should immediately withdraw their support and contributions.

Private universities, like ND, don’t have to recognize the first amendment on campus or with student groups or faculty.

State universities should be a different matter.
