We saw a couple of stories over the weekend about young people.
First, a USA Today story discussing the grim job prospects for young people.
Second, a story (via Bill Katz) about young people tuning out of politics:
Students across the country are protesting commencement speakers of all political varieties. Rutgers students balked at Condoleezza Rice and her ties to the Iraq War. Smith College kids and professors threatened to jeer IMF director Christine Lagardes monetary policies. And Robert Birgeneau faced protests at Haverford College over an incident involving campus polic

Just my opinion, but I think that it’s probably not a bad thing that young people are losing their faith in government.
The sooner the better they find out that BG ain’t there benevolent savior, the better off we’ll be. Once they figure out all that govt money is really their money they might just get it.
The current malaise in the country is far worse than anything Jimmy Carter could ever have imagined. Things are bad. No getting around it; its really depressing.
Too many young adults seem content to live at home without all the expenses and responsibilities associated with living on one’s own. If mommy and daddy have a big home, what’s the rush to move out? Our own neighborhood is filled with young people who could care less about supporting themselves.
The Left did a good job brainwashing them. That’s for sure.
It would be interesting to have young Obama voters list precisely what they had “hoped” Obama would “change”. Next, have them explain how each item turned out.
The purpose is to determine the percentage of true believers. These will list all sorts of rainbows and pronounce them all either fulfilled, or thwarted by evil Republicans. 75%?
BO is malicious. He wants to take down America, and is succeeding.

As this is becoming a trend, universities should plan on a throw away speaker then pull the real speaker out later. Or not announce them at all.
I did like the suggestion of doing away with the whole process.
The whole public education system needs revamped...
The Federal Department of Education (thanks, Jimmy Carter) needs to be abolished and education returned to each individual state as in the past. Flowery, feel good courses need to be religated to electives and solid, purposeful courses need to be required again.
The world is passing us by all because of the liberal, politically correct, undisciplined education system we have allowed to develope.
Time for change..........
“Hope and change” = gimme free stuff.
They are going to have to find a new slogan when their debt comes due.
