We just returned from 4 days near Lake City, Michigan. The lake was cold, but so beautiful.

I must say, we had a lovely little trip. Nice people, beautiful scenery, such warm hospitality.

The one thing that surprised me was the number of dead deer on the sides of the road. What happens to them? Do they get removed eventually, or are they cleaned up by scavengers? We were curious about this.

The dead deer will be removed from along the more heavily traveled roads but they also decompose or scavengers eat them pretty quickly in a normal year.

This year they’re just sitting in the fridge.
