Two women were married on a sidewalk outside a county courthouse in Arkansas on Saturday, breaking a barrier that state voters put in place with a constitutional amendment 10 years ago.
A day after Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza said the ban was an unconstitutional attempt to narrow the definition of equality, Kristin Seaton, 27, and Jennifer Rambo, 26, exchanged vows at an impromptu ceremony, officiated by a woman in a rainbow-colored dress.
The couple had spent the night in their Ford Focus after traveling to Eureka Springs from their home at Fort Smith, and was the first of about 10 couples to line up outside of the courthouse before it opened.
Thank God, Rambo said after Carroll County Deputy Clerk Jane Osborn issued them a license, ending a brief period of uncertainty when a different deputy county clerk said she wasnt authorized to grant one and questioned whether Piazzas order in a courtroom 150 miles away had any bearing in Eureka Springs.

>>Thank God, Rambo said after Carroll County Deputy Clerk Jane Osborn issued them a license...
then she was struck by lightning.
And they’ll probably adopt a baby boy and raise him without a father. Poor kid.
As long as we know the TRUTH, the TRUTH will NOT CHANGE.
Pity, and pray for them, they've got their own handbasket weaved by their own hands.
Was in ES the other day-saw a funny bumper sticker: it showed a twisty-turny road in rainbow colors. The caption said “Eureka Springs-Not Even the Roads Are Straight”!
Have been to Eureka Springs many times. First time in a long time was about 4 years ago when visiting family. Cousin took me there to show me. My response.....heck every little village up and down the coast in Cali looks like this.
$10 on the under.
Arkansas: The Unnatural State
So circuit court judges can unilaterally amend the state constitution?
Seems like the state representatives would have a few words to say about that...
Imperial emperors on the bench will have such power until our elected officials say no!
It is still illegal for Lesbians to "marry" in Arkansas ..... unless they are 1st Cousins.
BTW, the happy couple is a living reminder of the UA Football cheer

Eureka has been our little SF for many years. Nothing new here.
Notice how judges issue rulings right before a holiday (Christmas) like they did in Utah and on Fridays like they did in Michigan and now Arkansas to make the appeals process tough (they have to wait a few days).
Marriage licenses and ceremonies can be done in the interim period.
There’s a clear pattern here of judges deliberately making late Friday rulings to open the door. Were the judges picked for their friendliness to the cause????
Obama says his death panel law has helped America. THE FACTS SAY OTHERWISE.
The foot in the door. Now they think that can’t be rescinded, and the precedent will be in stone.
